Need advice: Fix Coping Over Skimmer

I think the plate is aluminum on mine. It was too light to be stainless. Search for skimmer tile plate, can find them online. I took this pic for the hole in the plaster but it shows the plate.

New Build - Pre Plaster Planter Leak into Pool

Could RedGard water seal the inside of the planter. I'd be concerned about iron in potting soil and fertilizer staining your pool plaster.

    Water in an electrical conduit

Butyl tape is more of a sticky putty. It comes in a roll to make it efficient to apply in roofing applications.

    Water in an electrical conduit

Stopper didn’t work for my light niche leak. Pool Putty didn’t work either. Butyl tape stuffed into the conduit at the niche worked for me.

    New Build Beginning- Step 1

Is there a corner entry step to the hot tub? Could flip the shallow end to the spa side and move the entry steps there. The steps could double as a bench there. With the shallow side moved, someone who didn't want to get in the hot tub could stand next to it and still converse. Depending on the...

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

That would work then. But I’d look into a low voltage pump start relay. Could use a drip pan sensor to cut it off. This would require no intervention.

    Hayward H400 odd noise

I’d check that I met the gas line, meter and regulator specs before pressure testing. Gas pressure test procedure is on page 33. https://www.hayward-pool.com/assets/documents/pools/pdf/manuals/UHS-Service-Installation-011717-RevT.pdf I wouldn’t mess with the regulator though.

Turning off the Circulation System Remotely

Is your circuit wiring 10 gauge? If it’s 12 gauge, a 30 amp breaker wouldn’t protect your wiring. Your equipment specs should tell you the branch circuit amps it requires.

Pump quit, how long can I go?

You could suspend a submersible pump without any hoses to circulate the water. They did this for my new plaster for 3 days.

Water leaking from light conduit at equipment side

Plaster guys plugged my conduit leak at the light niche where the cable enters the conduit today. They used Pool Putty epoxy. Rubber stopper didn’t hold the water back.

    Low CH duration?

My PB and I have been fighting a leak. It was drained, repaired, refilled and it continues to leak. Repair guy is suppose to come today but you know how that goes after making final payment. When they do show up they may drain it again. How long is too long to leave CH out-of-whack? Hopefully my...

    New Pool - Houston area

I have two pool Hayward Colorlogic LED lights and they are bright. With me in the pool 50’ from the light, it will still cast a shadow of me on the plaster. They do not dim. When swimming towards them, they are blinding. I think 3 would be too much. If you do get more, get them on a separate...

    How to: Toddler swim lessons?

We put each of our 3 boys through a swim program at that age. It was 1 hour a day for two weeks. Taught them the front crawl and rolling on their back to breath, and exiting the pool. Their graduation was crossing short course pool fully clothed and exiting. Kids learn fast at that age and are...

    Swim lane floor markings

I didn't tile a lane line because I didn't want to take away from the pool's appearance. Can I cut up waterproof vinyl floor mats to create the markings? Will something like this damage anything? What did y'all do? I'm on the 5th day of swimming laps in our new pool and I've crashed into the...

    Grouting ledge stone?

Mine have gaps too. They purposely put them there because they were shimmed. I don’t know why though. They did grout the larger gaps.

    Pool build details

I'd consider scrunching the spa down to put a row a steps in one of the corners. It would free up more room for volleyball.

    Pool build details

Similar design and intent for our pool, laps and volleyball. We're waiting on plaster. We went with a depth of 4' to 6'. Enough to flip turn in and launch.

    Raised pool skimmer advice

That's the current plan. My PB says he can push the skimmers 6" into the wall so it doesn't stick out as much. Was hoping there was something with a shorter distance between the basket and the weir door similar to an above ground pool skimmer. Thanks Jim.

    Raised pool skimmer advice

Hello. I've been here learning about pools. Awesome site that has given me to confidence to maintain it myself. Our pool is currently under construction. It is an 18" raised gunite rectangle and the current framework/rebar protrudes to accommodate each skimmer's (Hayward SP1072) location. I'm...
