    Leaking Light for 3 years!

Yeah I knew going into this that the light is toast by epoxying it like that, I've replaced lights before and know you have to be able to pull the new wire through with a rope However, I was thinking what my options are if the leak is NOT stopped by my epoxy repair. I am worried if this...

    Leaking Light for 3 years!

Unfortunately I saw your response after I attempted the repair. After draining the water and removing the old terrible repair attempt, I learned the problem is not the conduit, the problem is the light housing. the entire hub for the conduit has snappeed off from the back of thee light housing...

    Leaking Light for 3 years!

My dad has been on this 3 year journey of trying to fix a leak in his inground pool. First we got a new liner, then the liner company said the light was leaking and fixed it and it kept leaking. Eventually the liner company hired a diver and said the light could still be leaking and fixed it...

Pool Leak Driving My Dad Insane

Looks like its NOT the crack!!! The water dropped overnight with the pump off to the exact bottom of the skimmer (like 4 inches) but there is still water in the skimmer! If the crack was the issue (or the skimmer plumbing) wouldnt the skimmer be empty? I dont get it.

Pool Leak Driving My Dad Insane

Thank you, would it be helpful at all to wait until the water drops below the skimmer again and vacuum out the skimmer and apply the putty in a dry environment, or would that be pointless? I forgot to mention also, the pipes did not lose any water when they were plugged. the water level...

Pool Leak Driving My Dad Insane

Even though they said they didnt see any dye leaking, i think this has to be the leak. The leak is caused by the skimmers, but still leaks when they are plugged. The concrete slab that holds this skimmer settled into the ground and i think basically pushed the pipe through the bottom of the...

Pool Leak Driving My Dad Insane

Hi, my dad has been trying to find a leak in his inground vinyl liner pool for what feels like years now. Last year I helped him buy a brand new liner, because we thought the liner was the issue. Well sure enough the leaking continued. The company that installed the liner was sure they...

Do I really need to change the water every 3-6mos?

I have a 2000 gallon swim spa that has had the same water in it since end of last summer. I know the recommended water change is 3-6months but typically any recommendation for that says the water will get too far out of balance and nasty and require it. The thing is, my spa is crystal clear...

Massive Drop in Salt and CYA - What Should I believe?

Hi all, so last year when I was brand new to my pool everyone here was extremely helpful in getting me on my feet. I had a persistent issue with high CYA (110) and I took the advice of members here and installed a SWG and everything worked out great. This year I did the opening myself and...

SWG Cell - Winter Procedures & closing

Thanks Allen, I would suspect with all the rain we just got that I am already at the top if not over the skimmers. At what point do I start pumping, when its about to crest the top? Thanks for the advice, I will leave all my equipment out including the SWG cell, the only thing I was thinking...

SWG Cell - Winter Procedures & closing

With the help of this forum I converted my pool to salt this year (it's also my first year with the pool in general), the circupool rj60. I just had a company close my pool for the season, they blew out the lines and the SWG cell is empty but I am wondering if I should go through the trouble...

Looking For Help With Heat Pump Plumbing

Well too late for the bypass debate, I successfully installed the heat pump yesterday and didnt use one. It made the job a lot easier (and was still challenging to get everything lined up perfectly). I had to raise the heat pump up another inch or two using 4 paver stones on top of the pad...

Looking For Help With Heat Pump Plumbing

Thanks much, that insight is very helpful. That makes a lot of sense. You just saved me a lot of work, without the bypass or the check valve it makes this so much easier. I think I am going to return the check valve and get my $25 back rather than just throwing it in because I already have...

Looking For Help With Heat Pump Plumbing

Thanks 1Poolman1, I also checked the full manual I have, I do see it in the picture but it doesnt say it's required. That picture seems to show a lot of options, I asssumed so that every likely scenario was covered. In that picture it appears the check valve is for a bypass. In your...

Looking For Help With Heat Pump Plumbing

Well this project is a lot easier if I can throw out the bypass, then I dont need to build the manifold and its just a straight shot with a couple of elbows into the heater. I know at the moment the bypass came in handy. It let me disconnect the heater and still have the pool function...

Looking For Help With Heat Pump Plumbing

Hi, I just got a heat pump to replace my broken gas heater and I have the skill to do the electrical but not so much the plumbing. I was supposed to have a plumber do it but he cancelled until late next week and we are in the middle of a cold spell in my area so I would love to use it. It...

    Borates

my state (NJ) requires a test of the well water which was performed, but it's not very helpful. They are more looking for contaminates, my water failed a new test for PFAS and the seller had to install some big resin $7k tanks (with a big blue 20 inch pre and post filter) to remove it (at the...

    Borates

No, it's not really a BAD smell, it just doesnt smell like bromine. I know that if I fill a glass of water from my well and then let it sit at room temperature it has an earthy (aka dirt) smell to it. I assume what I am smelling is a combination of bromine and the earthy smell. I know how...

    Borates

I could have sworn I read somewhere that one of the benefits was it made the water smell better. It's not on your thread as a Pro though, not sure where I saw that. I am trying to get rid of/cover up an organic smell from my well filled spa, would boric acid help or does only the 20 mule...

New Swim Spa Water Source, Water smells Odd

What is ironic is I already have that, my water just barely failed a test for PFOA and the seller was required to install a filtration system consisting of a pre-filter, 2 big resin tanks that look like water softener but they just remove the pfoa, and then a 2nd stage filter after them. The...

New Swim Spa Water Source, Water smells Odd

Thank you, Organic might be a good way to put it. I've noticed if I dispense water from my faucet and let it sit, it smells like dirt (organic). I might be smelling that dirt/organic smell + bromine, that might explain why it smells weird. When I filled my swim spa I got a bunch of...

New Swim Spa Water Source, Water smells Odd

Hi, I recently moved my 2000 gallon swim spa to a new house and filled with the well water and after going through the chemical startup procedure, the water has an odd smell to it. My old house was city water, my new house is well water with more mineral content. My spa at my old house...

    SWG and other questions

Well mystery solved..... Earlier in the thread I had talked about wanting to increase flow into the skimmer, my pool has 1 skimmer and 1 suction side port located slightly below the skimmer. I threaded a plug into the suction side port which massively increased the functionality of the...

Will This Modified Ascorbic Acid Treatment Work?

Thank you, I was advised since I cant do the exchange method since I am on a well, that I should not change out the water to get the CYA under control due to the age of the liner (12 years old). Allen suggested I convert to SWG instead to be able to not keep adding CYA and deal with the high...
