    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

Fixed it!!! I pulled out the pine cones and leave buildup, changed out the ball valve, pvc pipe, and elbow. I had to glue in a union to make up for the length cut out of the hose when replacing the above. The hose is apparently spa hose and can be glued similar to rigid pvc. Thanks everyone...

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

I used pvc cement to connect pvc pipe with the elbow as well as with the pump, but now that I'm connecting a flexible hose with pvc elbow, do I switch away from pvc cement? Do I use this silicone sealant instead?

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

I fished them out with a hook on the end of a hanger. Hopefully I got them all. Not sure if this was my issue all along. It surely slowed my flow as I noticed but it doesn't explain the air bubbles.

I could suck them with a shop vac maybe? Duct tape the end to the hose.

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

Went to change out the ball valve and 90 degree elbow and I see this! I never had an issue with pinecones before this season as they began clogging my creeper vac. Now how do I reliably get them all? I will try to reach the close ones but who knows how many are down there.

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

My suction side setup is pretty simple in that I just have one ball valve between the pump and the skimmer. I previously lubed the oring but that didn't work. What would you guys do if you wanted to troubleshoot it further? I took some pics so you can see. Would you replace the oring?(how would...

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

Oh one more thing: I've noticed the pump lid is a lot harder to open like a lot of pressure keeping it on tight. BUT when I do release it, I'm getting hit in the face by some water and I think it's through the lid. I replaced the oring and lubed it prior but do you think I should just get a new...

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

Skimmer weir, water level are okay. It happens too with a hose for creeper vac. I lubed those too but no luck One thing I noticed is when I shut off the pump, a fair sized water bubble pops up at the pump lid. This whole issue did not happen at the beginning of this season. It happened around...

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

I purchased pool lube and lubed both the cover o-ring and the union before the suction, but unfortunately no change. While troubleshooting, I noticed that the hose that connects the pump and the filter which is attached with hose clamps (see first pic) leaks during prime. It started happening...

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

Yeah I found that one a little while after opening the thread, but so far been unable to detect the air leak. I have tried bypassing the filter on "recirculate" but there's no difference. I used the following lube. Is this insufficient?

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

I have had no luck with the soapy water test. Should I start digging where the hoses go into the ground in pic 2? What am I likely to find if so? Or a should I continue with some other checks above ground? The white hose connection with the hose clamp going from my pump to filter is a bit weak...

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

No, problem persists after backwash. There is a significant decrease in water pressure at all times. Results from a week ago: note was currently shocking at that time.

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

I've been backwashing near daily. That's actually where I first noticed the power had really dropped. Normally it shoots out of the hose with a lot of pressure and now it comes out a lot slower. Chemistry looks good.

    Hayward pump pulling air somewhere

Hello, I have a Hayward MaxFlo VS pump. I think I might have a side suction air leak and the specific symptoms I noticed along with pictures of my setup are below. I'm looking for troubleshooting steps I can try to find the leak. 1) its taking longer to prime 2) the suction as well as return...

Closing pool for winter first time

I cleared it via the skimmer. I bought 2 vacs with the intention of returning 1: Both rigid models: 5hp/130 cfm: $100 6hp/170 cfm: $140 I hooked up the 5hp and noticed it was moving air through but only a bit of water was coming out of the jets. I switched to the 6hp. It was a bit better but...

Closing pool for winter first time

I upgraded to a 6hp / 170 cfm shop vac this morning and was able to clear out the lines from the skimmer. It wasnt working perfectly at first but then I duct taped all the connections between the vac and the skimmer to reduce the air loss and it helped increase the pressure. Thanks again for...

Closing pool for winter first time

So it's 2am and -4 outside. I really underestimated how long it would take to drop the water level below my jets with a 5hp sub pump (14 hours). I happened to be at a pool store the other day for an unrelated reason and the owner recommended I hook the shop vac up to the skimmer, set pump to...

Closing pool for winter first time

Thanks again for the reply. I just picked up a sub pump. Based on your suggestions and my own googling, I will write out the steps I plan to do in order. Please let me know if I I missed anything or the order is incorrect: 1) drain the water on waste until the skimmer sucks air 2) stop the pump...
