    What's your current pool temp?

Completed my fill yesterday (had to drain over the winter for some construction going on near the pool) and turned on our heater last night. Pool was at 54' last night and 65' this morning. We have a tankless electric heater. It gets quite a workout for a couple days and then it does a real...

    Best/Worst Pool Paint

When I did ours the calculations said one gallon of primer and one gallon of paint. I was short on the primer but i like to put primer on pretty thick. We ordered a half gallon of white for the coping and relief at the top and ended up ordering two gallons of Blue for the bottom. I did not...

Rollin Thunder, I will take the fact that you can see the main drain as a compliment. :-D I am looking for one now. There were two left ere by the previous owner but neither of them fit.

Here are a few more pictures I just took (it looks better in the daylight) I'm really glad we used the "Dark Blue". It was originally white. I think it makes it look deeper and bigger being a darker color. Notice the pooltable? We have moved away from the "Solarium" title to the "Poolroom".

Good afternoon. Sorry for the delay. My daughter got married this weekend so I have been occupied and away from the computer. My thread was the one attached above. We used a Gunite primer and the Super Poxy Shield from In The Swim. It is their house brand but when I was doing my comparisons...

New owner of old pool First Test

Thanks Jason. I will add it tonight. The stabalizer I picked up is granular. Should I still put it in a sock in the skimmer? Will I have trouble testing my CYA level since the TF100 starts at 20?

Old pool in need of a refurbish. Paint it? Bondo?

We used The Super Poxy Shield from In The Swim. Two Gallons of Dark Blue and One Gallon of White. We also used their Gunite Primer. They had a discount and free shipping deal running at the time. Still expensive but we are pleased with the results. We washed everything with TSP also from In...

Old pool in need of a refurbish. Paint it? Bondo?

I did the same project with the same type of constructionas you have (fiberglass walls and concrete bottom). We used a pressure washer to remove the old caulk from the seams and refilled them with Permaseal. The Permaseal shrinks so be sure to put on a nice heavy coat. I actually had to go...

Thanks for the confirmation guys! I will direct the return jet towards the surface to get some aeration. Will I need to add more acid do you think? At what point should I start adding the CYA? I will BBB my way to perfect water! Just wait until you see my pretty plumbing job! I will get...

Mom does real good guilt trips :) This project was more than we were expecting but then again so is the whole house! I am putting in the new sand filter this weekend and I will put up some pictures of the process. I hope my plumbing skills are up to the task or I could have a very wet basement!

Indoor or not?? Now new and improved with pictures!

Yes that is the only return. I am probably going to use the i/2 skimmer 1/2 main drain setting to try and get some good circulation. Should I point the return towards or away from the skimmer?

So I went ahead and ordered the S180T Sand filter. It will be here Friday and I will install it this weekend. It does not come with any hoses or connections. My question is...Can I find all of the connections I will need at Lowe's or do I need to order the Hoses, Adapters and Clamps from a...

    New Filter Recommendations

Well I went ahead and ordered the Hayward S180T. I am going to be pairing that with the Old Hayward Max Flo 3/4 HP pump. I think I am going to use the Flexible PVC to hook everything up. Here's to hoping my plumbing skills are adequate. Wish me luck!

It was actually easier than I was expecting. The only real problem we had is the bugs that ended up in the paint before it was able to dry. They are now permanent fixtures in the floor of the pool. Now onto my filter...

    New Filter Recommendations

Thanks jasonlion. Any thoughts on the Clearwater brand? I know Haywards reputation but not sure about some of the others. I have heard some folks on the board not liking the flexible PVC. Any pro's and cons? As I mentioned earlier I had started filling the pool before my filter mishap. I...

    New Filter Recommendations

Good evening experts. If anyone has been watching my saga in the Indoor Pool area you will see that I have a small indoor pool. 20x12x4 (approx 7000 gal). I have finished painting the pool and am in the process of filling it. I have an old Baker Hydro Hydro-Mite cartridge filter that has...

Indoor or not?? Now new and improved with pictures!

A repair of the roof should suffice. The fixed panes of the windows are actually just slider panels and we are going to be filling them in with plywood and covering the outside of them with stone. This will give us a little more privacy and should be more cost effective than repacing all of...

Indoor or not?? Now new and improved with pictures!

Let's see if we can add some pics... These were taken before any work was done. The prior owners filled the pool and threw in 6 3" pucks and said "There you go". We later found out the pool was leaking. We think we found the leak and have fixed it. We decided to paint the pool as well...

Indoor or not?? Now new and improved with pictures!

I purchased a home with a pool that is in what my wife calls an Atrium. The pool is oval 12x20x4 and the room it is in is 30x40 and is attached to the house. It is not a conditioned space. The perimiter of the room is made out of sliding glass doors and fixed glass panels (3 sliders and 16...

    New pool owner

Thanks guys. While I doubt paint is the ideal fix it looks to be the most cost effective at this time. I havn't seen anything that renews fiberglass yet. I am hoping that with the pool being indoors the paint will last a little longer than the 5-8 years the information predicts. Any thoughts...

    New pool owner

Good afternoon everyone. I bought a house in December that has is inground and "kind of" indoor pool. It is built into a 40x30 solarium that is not conditioned space. The pool is 12x20x4 oval. It has Fiberglass panels on the sides and what looks like concrete on the bottom. The equipment...
