Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

I did do the OCLT test a few days ago and there was no loss! BUT, just brought it up to SLAM level bc I noticed it was slightly cloudy tonight by the light 😕 It does seem that I average a loss of 3.5-4.5ppm a day though. Yesterday it was cloudy outside all day and I only lost about 1.5ppm during...

Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

I will definitely give that a try and see how it goes!!

Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

The ladder sits inside the wall and I took the light out last season and scrubbed the niche. I always make sure to brush both well when brushing the pool.

Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

It is something we have talked about doing since last season. I’m getting to where I can’t fully enjoy the pool because I’m so worried about the fc dropping below minimum and getting algae. So I’m out testing every 2-3 hours. The same thing happened last year as well. It seemed as though all i...

Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

We are most definitely considering a SWG for next season! I’m trying to figure out the basics before adding more things to take care of and figure out 😂 This is only our 3rd season as pool owners so I’m still a newbie!

Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

I believe that will be my next step once the pucks dissolve in the next couple of days. The water has just been so clear and my CC has been .5 or below, it didn’t seem likely to me?

Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

I have not performed an OCLT yet, just because the water is so clear, even at night by the light. That will be my next step once the pucks dissolve in a day or two. My kids are 16, 19 and 24. While an “accident” is unlikely, I’m sure it is possible. I just wouldn’t think it would be enough to...

Cya at 50, still losing 3-5ppm fc-water clear

Hey guys! I’m at a loss here and was hoping you all could help. I’ve been trying this LC method for 2 years now and I can’t seem to get it right. Last year, I kept my cya between 30-40 and went through gallons and gallons of LC weekly because it dropped so much during the day. This year I have...

    Cloudy again..

It dropped from the 48 oz mark to near the 40 oz line. Does it matter that the water levels were that far apart to begin with?

    Cloudy again..

This is my setup. You can see on the inside of the bucket where the water level was marked, and also on the outside. I don’t believe the water level was too low in the bucket? Am I doing this all wrong?

    Cloudy again..

Would wind make a difference in the bucket test results? Wouldn’t evaporation still be the same in the pool as the bucket?

Hayward maxflo VS 500 will not come on. HELP!!

I use liquid chlorine. I thought about taking the hose off of the cover pump and putting that in to circulate for awhile?

Hayward maxflo VS 500 will not come on. HELP!!

I gotcha. No, we just use the pump controls. The power off didn’t work so I have a call in to the builder. Waiting to hear back. Is there anything I can do to move the water? How long can it sit with the pump off and be ok? I do have it covered .

Hayward maxflo VS 500 will not come on. HELP!!

I I didn’t meant to say filter, I meant the pump. They replaced the pump last summer. Sorry about the confusion 😆 What do you mean by “additional automation?” There are no error codes, the screen is completely black. I will flip the breaker off for awhile and check in again in a bit to see if...

Hayward maxflo VS 500 will not come on. HELP!!

It’s been raining all day and I have an auto cover, so I just went out to do my water testing for the day. When I opened the cover, I noticed that the weir doors were closed and the returns weren’t pushing water. I went over to check the pump, and it’s completely off. It isn’t lit up at all...

    Cloudy again..

I may put a bucket on the patio as well, just to double check my results! I’m so OCD that I don’t trust my markings on the buckets 🤦🏻‍♀️ I don’t see water anywhere on the ground or near the equipment which would lead me to believe it would be in the liner. BUT, our liner was replaced last year...

    Cloudy again..

Happy Saturday everyone! So, it’s been a week since I added 3 lbs of stabilizer. I just retested and while the water is cloudier, I can still see the dot all the way to the top 30 mark. Should I assume the pool store was wrong and it was actually lower than 20? Should I go ahead and add more now...

    Cloudy again..

Yes, I am learning and you guys have been a great help! I’m thankful for this community. Yes, I’m definitely still learning! I’m thankful for this community and all of the knowledge that everyone has provided. With this being our first pool, it can get very overwhelming!

    Cloudy again..

I sure hope I’ve got all of this down by next year. I’m trying to be patient and learn all that I can!

    Cloudy again..

I will definitely give that a try when I am able to add more! I guess I didn’t think there would be any difference on where I put it, as long as it was contained in a sock. The very first time I added cya, the pool store told me to pour it slowly in the skimmer. I can see how that would clump up...

    Cloudy again..

I feel like I’m constantly running out of something, but I’m going to do my best to stay on top of it. Next year, I’m buying the biggest bottles I can find 😂

    Cloudy again..

You were right! I had no idea I needed to be testing my cya so often. I assumed, after reading how difficult it’s supposed to be to lower/get rid of, that it would go unchanged for quite some time. I never dreamed I would lose so much in 4 weeks. I feel certain it WAS at 50 when I tested it a...

    Cloudy again..

Ok! I will plan to use the bucket tomorrow and see what I come up with. I will also plan to retest my cya on Saturday. You are right, I do NOT want to over shoot! That should give my time to figure out my water loss as well so I can report back!

    Cloudy again..

I have a sand filter and have not backwashed since adding the stabilizer. I did read that you should wait at least a week before doing so? I will continue to monitor FC because I definitely don’t want to end up back where I started! Today I checked about every 2 hours with very little change. I...

    Cloudy again..

Thank you! I promise I’ll keep trying 😊 I put the stabilizer in a stocking and put it in the skimmer. If the pool store was right, and my cya was at 21, the 3 lbs I added should’ve brought it up to 35ish according to pool math? It definitely didn’t show that today in my testing. If I’m to trust...

    Cloudy again..

I’m back 😂 Ok, so today my cya reagent came in and I just did the test. It was definitely cloudy, but I could still see the black dot all the way to the top. It’s only been 48 hours since I added the 3 pounds of stabilizer. It did completely dissolve over night. Is it too soon to be testing...

I guess I would actually need 6 lbs

    Cloudy again..

Took a sample to Leslies (I know, only place open) just to see what their results were. They had my cya at 21, which would make sense compared to the results I got, or didn’t get 😂 I want to get it back up to 50, so I think I need about 5lbs or 80 oz. can I just put 40 oz in each sock and tie it...
