Is it normal to have this many issues with a brand new heater? I’m trying to figure out how hard to push for a full replacement before our warranty expires in 3 weeks…no idea if anyone has had any luck with that route. Just seems like they’ve tried everything and we keep having issues.

Ok, pool is new last summer, heater was installed in June. We’ve been running it maybe once or twice a month throughout the winter to heat up the hot tub. A few weeks ago the hot tub didn’t heat up after turning on the heater - the heater had shut itself off and given a “high limit 2 is OPEN”...

Quick update! We turned the heater on Monday mid-day, we reached 93 degrees by Thursday morning. Thursday was COLD (the high actually only got up to 40) but heater kept up! Pool was 93 and integrated spa was 102. Everyone swam and it felt very comfortable! I was a little worried 93 would feel...

Ok, it looks like the heater is 399K BTU, and the pool is maybe 35000 gallons? Let’s say we way to raise the temp 30 degrees. So 35000x8.3 = 290,500 lbs 290500 lbs / 399000 degrees/hr x 30 degrees = 22 hours? I’m not sure if I did that right. Also not sure how that accounts for heat lost to...

Just a quick update: turns out one of the umbrella holder pipes in the tanning deck wasn’t capped off at the bottom. It was just an open pipe going straight into the ground. (Amazed that the pool held water for 5 weeks before whatever debris was lodged in there broke loose!) 🤷‍♀️

Yeah...they can’t quite figure out what happened. He’s tried every stain remover and also got a little acid pump which didn’t do anything to the stains. I think it’s some kind of curing discoloration. He thinks dirt just got deeply embedded in the new plaster...?

That’s kind of my feeling too, and I mentioned that. He just said they never chip out the old plaster...??? He said that would take “weeks” and basically seemed to say it’s never done that way. Is that a possibly a regional thing?

No, we haven’t gotten the stain issue resolved. They are wanting to do an acid wash next week but I’m thinking I’d like to see if actually having chlorine in the pool would help first... 🤷‍♀️

Just a quick update: they told me yesterday that the metal tests came back “off the charts” in our pool, so they put some kind of metal out treatment in the water. Not seeing any change so far today.

Yeah we’ll see I guess. They’re saying they really think it’s organic. The stain that matches where the water was puddling looks exactly like the other stains color-wise, so maybe from the pollen sitting there in the puddle while the pool filled?

Ok, I’ve ordered one of the TF-100 test kits but it hasn’t come yet. (I also tried the vitamin C tablet on a stain yesterday but it didn’t do anything).

Thanks @onBalance - I’m still pretty confused about what might be causing the extensive staining all over the pool. I understand that the one spot with the puddle running into the deep end could have left marks, but now we’ve got this yellow staining covering the entire deep end floor and walls...

Just curious if there’s anyone out there in NW Arkansas, and who you’d recommend as the most reputable pool companies in this area? (Are we allowed to ask for specific referrals on here? Maybe PM me if anyone has names to share?)
