Jandy VSP not running at idle speed

Doh! I just noticed my schedule was changed! Apologies, my pool person must have changed it to have the pump running right now for some reason. I updated the schedule so that the filter should not be running right now, turned the pump off and on, and now it's idling again as expected. Sorry for...

Jandy VSP not running at idle speed

I have a Jandy VSP that's setup with a few different speeds: an idle speed of 1100 RPM, a filter speed at 1750, and a solar heating speed at 2200. I just noticed that my pump is running at 1750 even though it should be idling right now. I'm not sure if this is because the pool temp is too low or...

Setting it to 0 got the clicking to stop. Easy enough - thank you!

Turn off Jandy SWG that is using Aqualink

I have a Jandy SWG that is in need of repair, as it's clicking on and off internally every few seconds and saying "check cell". I'd like to turn it off so that whatever relay is clicking on/off doesn't get burnt out, but the normal way of holding down the power button doesn't work. Instead the...

Jandy TruClear SWG clicking - shows Check Cell

Yes, I can do that. Do you think it would be a warranty claim/problem with just the cell or the main SWG controller as well?

Jandy TruClear SWG clicking - shows Check Cell

I have a 2 year old Jandy TruClear setup, and I just noticed tonight that my SWG was making a sound like it's clicking on and off every few seconds while displaying either "Waiting..." or "Check Cell". Here's a brief video (may need sound up to hear clicking): The cell was cleaned once last...

Hotspot FPH AC heat reclamation pool heater - a review!

IIRC Hotspot said 2 speed is fine, but you might want to talk to them to confirm. I can't think of why that would make the install any more complex - if the AC is on in either speed you'd want the pool pump to be sending water to the heat exchanger. For that 15 foot distance, I'd recommend...

    Aqualink improvements

Awesome! I'm going to try this before next season. Is there any reason you didn't just stick the Pi inside the Aqualink controller's box? When you change the pool pump speed, does it go through the priming delay?

    Aqualink improvements

That's really good to know. I might give this a try afterall. Is there a particular RS485 cable you'd recommend? Also, do you think this is one of those things where you set it up once, and it should run for years, with no updates needed, since the interface won't really change? I'd also be...

    Aqualink improvements

Ouch - that's really unfortunate. I was hoping they'd at least be able to support firmware updates some other way, but either way, they still need to update the product. I too wish I had Pentair, but oh well.

    Aqualink improvements

Thanks. I did come across that. The only downside is it appears to require a dedicated machine (ex: a rasberry pi) to interpret the RS485 commands coming from the Aqualink controller, as opposed to the actual Aqualink API which can be connected to and interpreted remotely via HomeAssistant or...

    Aqualink improvements

Does anyone know if Jandy plans to improve aqualink, to expose more settings and status information than it currently does? At present, the aqualink app is only somewhat useful, and I have to go into the old school OneTouch webapp to view important status information, such as pump speed and...

    Hotspot FPH pool heater install

That's an over or under pressure sensor which was on the AC system when it was new, and wasn't part of the FPH install.

    Hotspot FPH pool heater install

I have a new theory of what might be going on... I noticed on my system, that after running in air cooled mode for a while, the line that goes through the NC solenoid and bleeds the normal condenser is frosty, which I wouldn't expect since that solenoid should be closed. And when shutting off...

    Hotspot FPH pool heater install

Yea, that's how we initially setup the system - add refrigerant in both air and water modes till the charge looked good in both modes. It worked fine like that for a while till the August heat kicked in. Then it became apparent that the system was way overcharged. Pressure got really high on the...

    Hotspot FPH pool heater install

I've been troubleshooting my system on and off for a few months and it's still having problems with refrigerant. I'm getting close to just removing the system and calling it a loss. The problem is refrigerant needs to move back and forth between the air and water cooled sides of the system. And...

    Hotspot FPH pool heater install

@drglanton So the instructions are to charge up the system to where it should be when it's on, or where it previously was if it's an existing AC system, and then that's it. When the FPH turns on the refrigerant should all move to the water side, and when it turns off the refrigerant should all...

    Hotspot FPH pool heater install

So the system is running and generating heat, but the HVAC install didn't go as expected, given the instructions, and might not be working safely yet. The install appears correct, but refrigerant seems to get trapped on the water cooled side of the install, and talking to Hotspot support hasn't...

Hotspot FPH AC heat reclamation pool heater - a review!

Question for the other FPH owners: we noticed that after switching from air cooled to the FPH side of the system, refrigerant moves to the FPH as expected. But when switching back to air cooled the refrigerant seems somewhat stuck and barely moves back to the air cooled side. From what I...

Hotspot FPH AC heat reclamation pool heater - a review!

Thanks for the responses @riny and @Joshii ! Good point about cold air in the house! My AC tech is coming again on friday to adjust the refrigerant so I'll be sure to check that. Thanks for letting me know about ~2 hours too. Why do you think this is? Good to know. It occurred to me, the FPH...

    Hotspot FPH pool heater install

Here are some pictures from my install. The HVAC connections, including the 3 way valve, and one of the T connections that contains the additional solenoid and restrictor, are all located inside the HVAC unit itself, following the 2nd diagram in the post above. This install only has 1 new copper...

The very large 230v -> 24v transformer sits in the top left of my AC cabinet, with the fan relay on the top right. The transformer, relay, and both solenoids were all wired together in this cabinet so that only a 5 wire thermostat wire goes out and over to the FPH controller.

The 3 way valve sits in between the compressor and condenser. On the upper right of the picture, a line comes from the condenser's discharge through a solenoid and restrictor, then back around to the suction line.

Hotspot FPH AC heat reclamation pool heater - a review!

I finally got the Hotspot running the other day, but the initial impression was underwhelming, leaving me wondering if we have the system setup correctly. I should caveat by saying that it was only 73 degrees outside when we did the HVAC install and tested things, so while we had the AC running...
