    Filter media

The stuff that is coming out of the backwash is much bigger that the aquaquartz bags I just got in. The aquaquatz is really like sand, where as what I assume is glass media is almost like small grains. It reminds me of the stuff you get in silica bags with things to keep moisture out. As for...

    Filter media

When I backwash, I lose some filter media. This year I was going to change it out but after some research it seems that I just need to top up my filter. I bought some filter sand (aquaquartz) assuming it was same thing, but upon getting it in, I notice it looks different (and smaller) than what...

    Closing Pool Conflicting Information

Cover is one of those black safety covers that does let some water though. Not sure if it is classed as mesh though. Locks into the concrete with springs. No tabs at all - I can do that and just use liquid shock to maintain? i am guessing you get to know how much to use eventually and know what...

    Closing Pool Conflicting Information

Thanks the dump and pray is what our pool company seemed to do, part of the reason we no longer use them. I don't think I will even get it to SLAM levels to close it (and risk bleaching) with a CYA of 100. Typically when it is this color and a CYA of 50 it is about 3 jugs to get it to about 20...

    Closing Pool Conflicting Information

Hello again! This year we are closing the pool ourselves. Sadly, it is currently going green but with a CYA of 100 I didn't want to pay to drain halfway and refill this late in the season to SLAM it and then to drain it a week later to close. Questions I have: - Is there a problem closing it...

    Cloudy and struggling

I have a FAS/DPD test kit on order but do not have it right now. Using a Taylor K-2005 test kit currently and need help. Pool has been blue and is clean and has been since we shocked/cleaned after opening a few weeks ago, but we are fighting cloudiness. Tried some things (nothing in the last...

Hayward S244T Sand Filter leaking backwash

I have a Hayward S244T and when turned back to filter water is still coming out of the backwash line. What do I need to fix/replace? Valve is a SP0714G11M

    Pump Replacement

We just got a Kreepy Krawler but never got it set up. We have been using the old school one that connects to the skimmer basket. Set up is simple and completely manual. A switch to turn the pump on and off at the electric. And then the dial on filter we turn when we need it to flush to waste...

    Pump Replacement

We do use a suction cleaner. Think this could contribute to it wearing out quicker?

    Pump Replacement

My pump is dead (bearing issue) and a crack letting air and I need a new one to open. I currently have a Hayward Super Pump SP2610X15 and it was only about 3-4 years old judging by when the pool was installed. We did have multiple issues with it priming (cos of air leakage and we ran it...

    Raising PH without causing cloudiness

Is there a benefit to Borox over soda ash? Also, should I add the full amount at once or do a bit at a time as I test.

    Raising PH without causing cloudiness

Just retested: PH - Less than 7 Drops of Base Added to get it to 7.4 = 8 FC - 3 TC 3 CC - 0 TA - 50 PPM

    Raising PH without causing cloudiness

If you have read my post history, you know it has been a ride! Pool is now not cloudy, free of flocc, free of algae, nice and clean but the PH is off. Last shocked about 24 hrs ago. Readings are as follows: FC - 5 PH - 7.0 or less TC - 3 Before we shocked it we were at: FC - 3 PH - 7.1 about TC...

    Which liquid chlorine?

So I do not trust my pool store after the floccing incident. I am currently using bags of Clorox to shock my pool but I have heard that liquid chlorine is better. Pool store says they sell cases of 4 for $21.99 but do I need to be looking for a specific concentration?

I messed up. I used flocc. Now what?

Can I buy the missing FAS-DPD chlorine test on its own? Why cannot I not do the math using what I have to get that result?

I messed up. I used flocc. Now what?

I did not put it in a green pool. We shocked and it was still cloudy but no longer green. Pool store said the only way to clear it was flocc.....

    I have a K-2005. Will that do?

I messed up. I used flocc. Now what?

Sort of, sorry! How did you get FC level of 12? Are you looking at the Non SWCG chart on the CYA chart in the SLAM FC column? making the CYA stabilizer of 30? If so, how did you decide on 12 and not 16?

I messed up. I used flocc. Now what?

Thanks! If I test tonight that is before taking it to SLAM level right? I am just confused as I have already shocked it.

I messed up. I used flocc. Now what?

Merged threads - TFP Mod Hello again! So if you read my earlier post you will know that I flocced and regretted it. So the flocc is all vacced out (finally) but as the pump has not been running while we took 3 or so days to let it repeatedly settle and re-vacuum a crazy number of times to...

I messed up. I used flocc. Now what?

Sand filter, in ground pool 36 x 18 feet. 4ft ish at shallow end 6.5 ft is at the deep. Estimated at 25k gallons. Pool has been perfect since we opened it (first year having it), but we got a solar cover. It has been hot and rainy here and we didn't go out to look at it all week (mistake one)...
