Hey guys, I’m needing to change my sand. I watched a few videos on removing this but didn’t see one where the stand pipe stayed attached. What’s the best way to disconnect this?

It’s about 6 feet higher and plumbed with 2in pipe. I checked and the arrow on the valve was pointing in the correct direction. When I put everything together, I jammed a rock in to valve to keep it open. I guess if it’s functioning that I shouldn’t mess with it.

Thanks. I believe the check valve is there because of the incline from the pool to the pump. I was having issues losing prime.

I guess my question now is if it’s possible that the drive unit was causing these issues in the first place and not the motor. Can a faulty drive unit cause a grounding issue and trip the GFCI breaker? Just wondering if it’s worth buying the entire pump system or spending the $600 on the drive.

Thanks. I will do that. Is there a chance that a faulty drive would trip the breaker like this? Or is that more likely to be motor windings shorting out?

Last season I had a similar issue with The breaker tripping immediately and I had an electrician replace the GFCI breaker and I did not have any more issues the rest of the season.

Yes. 240 between l1 and l2. I pulled the pump motor assembly with plans to bench test it at a service center later next week.
