Zodiac Ei² 12 or BSV Evo 15?

My old SWG is coming to the end of its life I'm afraid (must be 10-12 years old, previous owner had it for several years before we moved in 3 years ago). Had it on max for 2 months now - salt level good - but it's just not generating as it used too. Unit is old and rusty also. This old model...

SWG - Justchlor J100SC - Earth probe covered in deposit?

Some common makes like Pentair, Zodiac, Blue works, Laswim, AutoChlor and JustChlor complete systems. Pentair, Zodiac Ei2-12 or JustChlor J100SC seem to appear the best quality pieces. But the Zodiac says their cell lasts for 7500 hours which seems very low.

SWG - Justchlor J100SC - Earth probe covered in deposit?

Would be rare for the main equipment to fail I assume? Just the cell? As it has lasted for so many years might be worth staying with the same brand.

SWG - Justchlor J100SC - Earth probe covered in deposit?

yep me too, unfortunately. Well, it's had a good life of about 12-14 years I suspect. Bad timing also as I just had many car repairs done (A/C compressor among other jobs), plus the house water heater. Everything seems to fail at the same time. We're coming to the end of summer here so if I...

SWG - Justchlor J100SC - Earth probe covered in deposit?

Yes, it has 4 levels, on 4 it should show 100% but only shows 50% output. It has a test setting for the salt level - If I select that it only measures about 70-75%. But the water has a ton of salt in it, the pentair salt strips (not cheap) only measure to 5000 and it was above that. If the cell...

SWG - Justchlor J100SC - Earth probe covered in deposit?

I'm beginning to think the cell is at the end of its life now. Water needs 6000ppm for it to work optimally (yes much higher than others I know). I have test strips that only measure to 5000 and looks like it's more than 5000. The test button on the equipment only shows 70-75% salt level. Some...

SWG - Justchlor J100SC - Earth probe covered in deposit?

Just found this in a manual online: 3. SC MAINTENANCE PROCESS • Turn OFF the Pump power supply which feeds the chlorinator. • Unscrew the electrode from the housing - cables intact. • With your fingers, remove the calcium deposit (stalactite formation) from the short round pin adjacent to the...

SWG - Justchlor J100SC - Earth probe covered in deposit?

Hi all I have a J100SC justchlor SWG - self-cleaning cells. I have noticed a big deposit on what seems to be an earth probe. The wire leading to it is the typical yellow/green color and seems to be just a grounding probe. Does it have any other purpose? I ask this due to the large...

    What's your current pool temp?

yep the hotter it gets outside the cooler the water feels due to the contrast. But then late at night it feels like a hot tub - lovely

    What's your current pool temp?

93F with solar collectors running from 10-5 but we're coming to the end of summer here in the southern hemisphere. Uruguay. Having to keep the cover on especially at night time. Loses a few degrees each night then gains it again at midday. Nice and warm water during the cooler evenings.

Help with Finding the Best Pool Cover

I have one of these on my pool and love it. Easy to roll off and on daily. But not sure if you have something similar over there. So strong you can walk across so great for safety reasons when you have kids/pets. https://www.facebook.com/carteles.toldos.cobertores

Solar collectors - DIY glazing and temp control

Managed to achieve a good balance now - pool temp ranges from 31-33c now instead of creeping up to 37c!! Just perfect for all of us young and old. 50% of the acrylic glazing removed from above the solar collectors did it. They certainly were efficient - good for the cooler months.

Small hole in fibre glass pool - putty or patch?

Same here for cars - premium costs for anything auto related. I am looking around for an alternative. I did see something similar in the pool section of our local hardware store the other month but today they were out of stock (well the staff on the floor didn't have much clue what I was asking...

Small hole in fibre glass pool - putty or patch?

Hi Guys, I need to fix a small hole (size of a dime) in my 12 yr old fibre pool. Right at the bottom of the pool. Looking at pool putty or patches (cannot drain the pool)...

Solar collectors - DIY glazing and temp control

Lol. Kids really don't like it too hot as they play a lot and don't use it to chill. When it gets above 36c on hot humid days it feels like a hot soup. Could run it at night to cool it but then that starts messing up the chlorine levels etc. (plus electricity). 30-32c for us is about right

Solar collectors - DIY glazing and temp control

Unfortunately I'm going to have to remove the acrylic glazing I think. It has been too efficient. Hottest part of the season has not arrived yet and been having issues keeping the pool below 34c If I switch off the flow to the panels the temp under the glazing has been rising too much. 90c...

How to turn off solar heater?

I'm still working on updating my solar system. Valve relief and check valve added. But still do not have any way of controlling the flow automatically (only have manual valves). Summer has arrived and its getting hot! Bit of a pain manually switching the valves all the time. As there are no 3...

Soundproofing material for pump enclosure with wifi devices

Thanks had a look at some ideas. MDF better than plywood for a start. Possibly a layer of 50mm fibre glass against the mdf also. Materials are limited here so the fibre glass is a viable option

Soundproofing material for pump enclosure with wifi devices

VS pumps here in Uruguay are very very rare and also if available extremely expensive.

Soundproofing material for pump enclosure with wifi devices

Yes we have a complex solid house. The electric underfloor heating seems to impede the strength between the floors to start. We have bathrooms in the middle of the house so the water tanks/pipes don't help. I have more than 50 devices connnected (home automation - cameras/rf bridges/inteligent...

Soundproofing material for pump enclosure with wifi devices

Thought about that but was hoping to avoid it. Already got 4 access points around the house. Running the cat cable under the ground to the end of the garden may well prove to be an issue. Last resort possibly a cheap 2nd hand router cabled. I don't think my fish eye would reach that far either...

Soundproofing material for pump enclosure with wifi devices

I'll be building some new wooden doors on my pump/filter enclosure but would like to add some soundproofing material also. I have several wifi linked devices in the enclosure that already have a weak signal due to being far from the access point. What kind of material could I use that would...

White film on sides - algae, calcium or bacteria?

Ok thanks for the advice. I'll do that I did have an incident the other day which did not help at all. I installed a vacuum relief valve for the solar collectors as it was missing during the installation done last summer. After installing it and the pump turned off it worked very well but as the...

White film on sides - algae, calcium or bacteria?

Just a few mins after writing I went to remove half of the cover and its looking clearer today - the extra 6 hours of filtering a day must be helping

White film on sides - algae, calcium or bacteria?

Still struggling with the milky water I'm afraid. I've now got the filter on an extra 6 hours during the nightime. Doing a backwash of the sand filter every few days. As I have not found any DE here then this may take a long time. Will have to start adding salt with all the backwashes now.
