Filter air relief line routed back into plumbing

That's correct. The line is routed from the top of the filter to the output of the heater. Essentially, bypassing the filter exit and the heater, and entering the heater exit. Sounds like I should remove this line and patch up the hole where it enters.

Filter air relief line routed back into plumbing

To clarify, the valve is always open. So when there is air in the filter it will purge it through the plumbing back into the pool. However, when there is no air in the system water is constantly coming from the top of the filter back to the pool. I'm not sure if that's common practice or a good...

Filter air relief line routed back into plumbing

I noticed the air relief valve on top my starite system 3 cartridge filter is leaking. Looking into replacing and discovered someone previously installed a line from the air relief back to the return side (bypassing the heater). Is this normal practice? Do I not need to open this line to remove...

    Pool light troubleshooting

I put a different bulb in the non-working niche and it works. Hopefully the company will send out a new bulb. Relieved I don’t need to swap out the entire fixture. Thanks for the help.

    Pool light troubleshooting

Hi Jim, Yes I have 2 junction boxes that I found at different sides of the pool. One near the pumps and one near the house. I originally put 1 bulb in the pool and discovered it wasn’t working and didn’t have power at the receptacle near the junction box. It turned out the GFCI near the other...

    Pool light troubleshooting

Jim, They are controlled with the easy touch. I just installed new bulbs. I did not change the fixtures. The wiring color I mentioned is the conduit that goes into the back of the light.

    Pool light troubleshooting

I replaced two pool lights and one spa light with LED bulbs. They all came on beautifully but after about 10 seconds or so, the spa light went out and won’t come back on. I believe all are on the same circuit but I am no electrician by any means. I can independently control them from the house...

    Spa draining to pool level

Very late reply but in case others need it, these are the relief valves on my pool. Pool company was about 5x the price. Calcium can build up and hold them open.

    Draining Advice

I finally have more time on my hands so decided to take the pool into my own hands. Unfortunately, probably at the worst possible time. Algae is forming and the levels are way out of whack. CYA is over 100 and pool math tells me to put 18 gallons of bleach in to SLAM. So time to drain. I’m...

    Filter replacement during refill?

That was my thought. Even if it did the concentration would be minimal. I haven’t looked at the filter since I replaced the entire unit in May. The concern was more geared to making sure the water is cleared of contaminants rather than potential damage to the filter.

    Filter replacement during refill?

I'd like to drain and refill my pool in the near future. I am not sure the last time it has been done but most likely quite some time ago. I will power wash the calcium line while it is empty. My question is regarding the need to replace the cartridge in the filter during this time. The cyanuric...

    Spa draining to pool level

So I solved my original problem. It turns out the pressure relief valves for the spa was my issue. I shamefully hired someone to diagnose it and they weren’t even sure that what they did would solve it but it now functions normally. For future reference I will provide some additional info. The...

    Spa draining to pool level

The pressure goes from about 25 to 35 psi when I shut the low profile water valve off. I can tell that water is still being sucked in through the skimmer but I can’t tell where it comes out. The pop ups do not function when this valve is set to off.

    Spa draining to pool level

Thanks again. I saw Chandler and was thinking the same. I’m definitely in over my head over here. Stay tuned for results from further testing tomorrow.

    Spa draining to pool level

Proavia, thanks for your reply. I ran out of daylight but I will attach what I was able to dig up. It looks like there are 6 zones in the two non-clear lid distribution valves. From what I was able to dig up, at least 2 of the pipes end without continuing into the ground on the clear lid one. Is...

    Spa draining to pool level

Crusemm, all three of those pumps go to the spa. The check/jandy valves have al been inspected and replaced so I’m ruling that out as a the problem. The diagram is a great idea. I’ll put one together today.

    Spa draining to pool level

Thanks for your replies. It’s a bit tough to get all of the pool equipment in one shot. I took a video that may be helpful. If you listen to the audio you can hear water at the end. I will attach a photo of the pool and I can get additional pics tomorrow. I replaced the three visible jandy...

    Spa draining to pool level

Greetings. I’m a new pool owner with a fairly complicated setup. My current issue is that the spa will drain to the level of the pool. The spa is fairly large (12 person) and it drains about 5 inches an hour or more. The spa has three pumps that create an overflow feature into the pool. The spa...
