    First time closing my pool

Thanks. The steps say to Pump the water down till it is about four inches below the bottom of the returns. My pool company usually had the water just below the skimmers and a couple.of inches above the returns. Do I need to drain it that low? If I keep it above the returns how do I blow out the...

Opening pool myself for first time

How often should I need to fill my pool’s water level. I like to keep it about 1/2 to 3:4 to the top of the skimmer. It seems after a couple of days the water gets pretty low and I fill it up with the hose. Is there an expected rate of loss depending on the temperature and/or other things?

    Pool cover anchors above pavers

I'm not sure this is the right place to post this question but figure I'd try. We had a mesh pool cover installed last year. After taking the pool cover off we noticed a couple of the anchors, even when screwed down all the way, stick out above the pavers. Looks like the anchors are set in...

Opening pool myself for first time

Ok I'm not familiar with he sock method but I'll look that up. The water has been very clear for the last 3 days as I've been adding about 4-5ppm of chlorine each night. What is reason you recommend starting the slam process from beginning? Does the CYA level have to be higher before moving...

Opening pool myself for first time

Got my kit and did a test last night and FC was 2.6 and CC was .4. Pool has been very clear for a couple of days. I added 1 gallon of liquid chlorine - sodium hypo 12.5% - last night and based on my pool size I calculated that to be 3ppm. This morning I took another measurements and got 6.6...

Opening pool myself for first time

Last night I added the 5ppm of liquid chlorine. I noticed the pressure was pretty low during the day ( clean was 16psi and was up to about 23psi) and figured I'd backwash today before adding more liquid chlorine. Well just before I was about to backwash I noticed the flow coming out of the...

Opening pool myself for first time

The process says I need an FAS DPD chlorine test. I usually take water to local pool supply and they test for free. Will that due for this process or do I need my own test kit? If I need my own which one and where can I buy it ?

Connecting pump filter and multi-port valve

I think I got everything. At least everything in connected running and not leaking. Only question I had was the o rings connect to the filter I put the small ones on and had to slide them down to the base of the connection. The other o rings seemed to fit in a groove of the unions

Here's what the water looks like this morning and I haven't started the slam process. Not as cloudy as yesterday but has some dark clumps on the bottom. Is that from algae settling on the bottom? lgae?

Opening pool myself for first time

Ok good sounds like what's happened is expected based on how dirty pool is. I will try to do what you suggest. While I'm doing that should I do anything to address the chlorine generator and the salt level, or just keep it off until the slam process is complete ?
