Do Solar Blankets Heat The Pool

Right, that makes sense I guess. Again I think it comes down to perspective/verbiage. To me, if you put something on the pool that makes it heat faster and get hotter than without, it IS heating the pool. Whether it “creates” its own heat is a different discussion imo, and that’s always the...

Do Solar Blankets Heat The Pool

So I’ll ask this question with sincerity as you seem to be the scientist in this discussion :) If you set a sheet of steel next to a block of wood out in direct sunlight, the sheet of steel would get so hot that you couldn’t touch it, while the wood would not, correct? Is it possible that the...

Do Solar Blankets Heat The Pool

Yes, absolutely. We also agree on the clear cover. I also appreciate this discussion. Back to my point about verbiage I guess...I think we all agree that the pool is warmer with the blanket.

Do Solar Blankets Heat The Pool

Put a solar panel in a dark closet and you have no energy either...

Do Solar Blankets Heat The Pool

Ha. I do believe that if you were to lay in direct sun wrapped in a dark blue or reflective tarp, you would be far more comfortable than if you were wrapped in a clear plastic blanket with micro bubbles! Like I said, I’m not sure if they amplify the suns rays. I believe that it’s possible...

Do Solar Blankets Heat The Pool

Okay, I know this has been discussed in more than a few threads here, but I’d like to add a thought that I think (?) most people are missing... 1. Pool cover makers advertise as much as a 10-20 degree heat rise from using their solar cover. 2. Naysayers constantly write that solar covers don’t...

    Buying pool chemicals

    Buying pool chemicals

Just bought some bleach from Menards. Their “Solutions” brand is on sale right now for $2.49 and, although not listed on the bottle, this regular concentrated bleach is listed on their website as 8.25%.

    New Frog Pool...

Great thanks. Just in time to cancel the order. I’m assuming the mineral cartridge is in the same housing as the filter cartridge then? Attached is a pic of the entire setup.

    New Frog Pool...

Okay, so I just got my test kit today, and my numbers were: FC-3, PH-7, TA-70, CH-100, CYA-20. This is after already adding 2 boxes (130oz) of Borax, and 4lbs of Baking soda in the last few days based on my low test strip readings. I downloaded the TFP app, which is awesome! Based on the app’s...

    New Frog Pool...

BTW neighbor, I’m sure you haven’t had to worry about topping off the pool this year lol...We were one of the first pools installed (Apr 11). Filled it up right away, and have been draining water out ever since. Unreal.

    New Frog Pool...

Great. Using TFP with the Frog was going to be my next question. I just ordered the TF-100 test kit from the link provided above, so I’ll begin testing as soon as I get it. Hoping for advise on a plan of action if I can post my water parameters here. Kids have eczema, so acidic water is not...

    New Frog Pool...

Right, thanks guys. I’ve already browsed much of the information in the Pool School section of this site, but was thinking at the time I’d probably have to ride it out for the rest of the year before switching. Guess I’m going to order a proper test kit today and start giving this a go. I use a...

    New Frog Pool...

Hi. Brand new pool owner here, and glad to have found this site (albeit a little too late). I was sold the Frog Leap system, and have quickly realized what a rip-off it is...oh well, live and learn. Anyway, I’m stocked up a bit on “torpedo packs” (chlorine), and obviously have a new mineral...
