What you are looking for is surface area of the tubing. Smaller tubing, more surface area. Heat transfer is all about surface area. More area, more heat.

I have a roof mounted solar panel array. By mid day my water temperature is 90. It is fed by diverting some of the return flow from the filter through the solar array. Again the area of solar panels is about the same as the surface area of the pool.

What you need is an hour meter. Connect to the power going to the pump motor. Voltage of the meter must match the voltage of the pump motor. Most hour meters will not have a reset.

My pump is a mechanical variable speed. It has ten steps if I remember correctly. The variable speed allows fine tuning of the acid feed rate.

I second JoyfulNoise. I have a Stenner pump with an acid tank which runs for a fixed period each day. Works great, low cost and low maintenance. Once you have the system dialed in, I have found that I don't need to adjust the feedrate. Just fill the acid tank every few weeks.

Try increasing the suction on your manual cleaner. The increase in suction will help keep the head on the pool surface.
