    Hard pipe vs flex?

@ajw22 Thanks so much for the quick reply! "Lazy" is the same word the Pool Warehouse guys used to describe the installers that use flex! Question on the "properly glued and no leaks" comment. The flex pipe guy said that "the purple on the pipes is what's used for low pressure indoor...

    Hard pipe vs flex?

Hey all! So I started my build almost 3 years ago... Excavator issues, electrician issues and permit issues ended the first summer. Bought and renovated a coffee shop the next summer. Bought and renovated a tanning salon this past one. I decided to hire out the 2nd half of the build. The...

DIY build is not square... (Cozy Cove is 2" short)

That seemed like a good idea but didn't work well when I tried it. I ended up bumping walls around and getting close.

DIY build is not square... (Cozy Cove is 2" short)

So I got the walls up and it's much better than I thought. I am about 3" crooked though. 2 of it is the short cozy cove. The rest I'll fix with squaring up. I'll likely bump the sides around to spread the 3" "offness" but did have one other idea. I found these at Home Depot. I could buy 2...

    DIY - Poolwarehouse build

I just realized something. I'd planned on bringing the water and gravel backfill up together to equalize pressure on the walls. But, I'm doing concrete coping and I need the liner groove to hold the form. That would mean that I need to do backfill, then decking and then the liner. Should I...

DIY build is not square... (Cozy Cove is 2" short)

I'll have to look closer. I think it's 8' across the front though. The pool diagram shows an 8' next to the cozy cove and it would need to be 8' for the wall to equal 43'. I just hung up with the pool warehouse guy. He told me to bump the walls a bit to make my diagonal correct. He said it...

DIY build is not square... (Cozy Cove is 2" short)

So I've been assembling, disassembling and reassembling my walls for the last few days. I couldn't figure out why I was out of square until I measured the cozy cove (swim up spa). At 7' 10", it's 2" short... If my liner was cut for a 43' wall, then I'm about 3" off on my longest diagonal. Any...

I was at Home Depot last night looking at it. It was 62 cents/foot. I found it on Amazon for 500' at $160. (half the cost). I'll keep looking and post what I end up buying.

    Cheapest place to buy __________

Home Depot, Lowe's and Amazon usually have decent prices. But not always the best. What's everyone thoughts about a "cheapest place to buy _____" thread? I'd guess the biggest driver for a DIY pool build is to save money. Labor is a big piece but so is material cost. I realize the prices can be...

    Design your dream pool pad

Great topic! Hopefully this reply will bring it back to the top. I'd love to see this one get legs. 4 or 5 pages of pics and comments would be awesome! Quick tip on planning or any future electrical need. I was talking to my electrician buddy while I was planning my DIY build. My plan is to put...

    Design your dream pool pad

I'm planning my pad now on a DIY build and have a question about the location of my subpanel. I did the Hayward Aqua Plus 40k SWG. I'll need to get to it to turn my lights on and off so it needs to be easily accessible. The pad will be on the inside corner of my raised deck and garage in a...

    Trench to equipment pad

I still need to dig the trench to my equipment pad. Questions 1 - What's the ideal width and depth 2 - I need to go from 42" deep to ground level. How steeply can I do that? (the more gradual the rise the more dirt I have to move!) Thanks!

    DIY - Poolwarehouse build

Day 8 Something finally went well! I've gone around and around for a few days trying to figure out the best way to raise the pool bottom due to it having been dug too deep. I got great input from the TFP folks and the Pool Warehouse tech line. Ultimately I drove to the gravel yard and spent...

    Confused by "gravel" types

To close out this thread! With the help of this wonderful forum I decided the round 57s were the wrong stone for the job. Thanks all! I drove up to the gravel yard and spent some time with the owner understanding different types of gravel and their best uses. (Huge shout out to Jerry Wysong...

Correct. DIY baby! lol No groundwater and no reason to believe it'll get above the floor of the pool level later. It wasn't as much a drainage issue as it was a "we dug the hole too deep" one...

    Confused by "gravel" types

IG liner. I'll have a retaining wall around the back corner and half of the far wall. My plan was to run some corrugated pipe and gravel behind the retaining wall. I'm assuming that would divert a fair amount of it before it reaches the pool. Sound about right? And thanks for the help!

    Confused by "gravel" types

I've got 60 tons of 57 gravel showing up tomorrow. I'll use it to raise the floor of the pool a bit because we dug too deep. I'll use the rest of it to back fill behind the walls. Apparently there's different kinds of gravel. When I ordered it today she said, "this gravel is round. That's the...

    Heater install question

A quick post to close the loop on this question. The gas guy was just out here and said I can use the same regulator for the house and furnace. I did run into a new problem though... Whoever installed the underground propane tank used regulators sized for 1M BTU but ran 30' of the small 3/8"...

Screwed up my elevation... Any ideas?

@jimmythegreek This was a detailed answer and I greatly appreciate it!!! Luckily the hopper hadn't been dug yet so we avoided that mess. We knocked it out yesterday and hit the depth perfectly.
