What is this in my pool?

Diane, I don't believe there are any cottonwood trees near me. PoolStored, is there any way to minimize this, or filter more out? It's obviously going through the skimmer sock and sand filter (which has been backwashed).

What is this in my pool?

OK, so pollen clumps like that? this is year 4 of the pool and its the first time I've seen this. That being said 1 neighbor put up a bunch of arborvitae's in the last 2 years, and they have grown a lot this year. Any way to minimize it? I figured the skimmer sock was full of pollen, but...

What is this in my pool?

Trying to figure out what is appearing on the bottom of my pool. This is new this year, pool was opened a few weeks ago, chemical levels normal, first appeared without solar cover, and continues after putting that on. The water is clear and I havent had and CC, or overnight test issues...

Dark stuff - bottom of pool

My pool was opened last week, I am pretty sure that the debris on the cover found its way into the the water, but can't confirm. I spent a few days shocking the pool, vaccuming (pool was a little cloudy, and middle had pile of leaves), then backwashed my sand filter and added dry CYA. Water is...

    Winter Cover issue

I had my pool closed (above ground) and my winter cover, about 3 years old, appears to have a hole, or small tears. It was sitting on the water and a few hours after closing I noticed water on top of the cover (in a line fold), and it increased slightly over the next day. Does this pose an...

Pool math app not recoginizing subscription

I am an iOS user, had pool math last year, and subscribed with auto renew. The renewal went through a few days ago, but when I log into app and try to add new logs I get prompted to subscribe. If I click restore subscription it says it can't find anything. On the about page it shows my...

Should I clean skimmer box before opening?

I had PVC pipe installed from skimmer to pump last year, and there is no disconnect from the skimmer box side (so pipe is detatched from pump only). Water pooled in the box during the winter, and now the water that is still in there is a bit green, and it's dirty. Should I blow that water out...

Wedding cake steps- crud in bottom

Thanks, when I pulled them out to take this pic, it quickly became evident that’s it’s a 3 person job. They are screwed into steps so I can’t float them to scrub. My numbers look good, as does the water, so I think I’ll leave them, and brush in pool. Then end of season I’ll thoroughly clean the...

    Where do you store supplies

where do you keep you Taylor 2006 kit, liquid chlorine and other pool chemicals? basement, garage, shed, outdoor bin? I’m wondering where I can safely keep these (and have easy access). What is heat sensitive? thanks!

Too much chlorine? 42 drops of reagent into 10 ml sample and its still dark pink.

To116 is correct. I did that the other day by accident, I put them back in the wrong spots and was going by habit. Make sure it’s 871 on the bottle

Wedding cake steps- crud in bottom

Tom, when you say clean with bleach water, you mean mix 10% bleach (regular6%) with 90% water, or did you mean clean with 10% bleach (the pool chlorine type) i can take it off and thoroughly clean ( it’ll be a pain) but I’m curious if it will just come back, or is higher FC able to stop that...

Wedding cake steps- crud in bottom

So I pulled my steps out and was trying to clean them, and found that the rubber protector on the bottom is full of yuck. 1. Is this sorta normal since there is no water flow there? 2. If not, how do I prevent this ( assuming I’ll see if I can get a new rubber protector) 3. Can anyone recommend...

Generally safe to swim in clear water?

Generally safe to swim in clear water?

Ok so regarding FC, I probably misinterpreted what I read. Is the safe swim limit dependent on cya? I thought 5 and up was no swim, but after looking at the chart it looks like 5 is actually desirable for certain cya levels, so Is the safe FC level the upper limit of the recommended range, or...

Generally safe to swim in clear water?

I’m also still learning this stuff myself, I was under the assumption that the pool math app guidelines were ok, meaning FC 1-4 is ok, so if I drift to 1 at the end of day (or lower it would be fine, not realizing I should really try to stay at 2 or higher). Now I’m aiming for FC of 4 rather than 3.

Generally safe to swim in clear water?

sorry typo. I meant to say ‘most’ friends do what the pool store says (not that they must, they don’t know any better)

Generally safe to swim in clear water?

I know you shouldn’t swim in a green pool, or otherwise non clear water, but I’d it safe to swim in water that is clear otherwise? I know lots of people with pools and must do what the pool store said or other non TFP methods. I see a bunch of posts about Oclt and if you fail there may still be...

    Pump speed adding dry cya

So it’s safe to have your hand submerged and continually squeezing? I know it’s not muriatic acid, but it still says acid, so I’m cautious of touching

    Pump speed adding dry cya

So I’m adding more cya powered form, I have a skimmer sock and poured out over that. I’m not using a foot sock since I tried that last time and I don’t think anything was dissolving ( still packed there morning after) anyways, I know I should leave pump on 24 hours, does it need to be high...

    Best pool brush

Thanks, Are brushes throw away items, not meant to last long? Do bristles usually start falling out after a year?
