Tiling fiberglass coping and water line

Added one above this reply. Fiberglass is somewhat fragile so there’s not a whole lot I can do to clean it. The coping also has water ponding on it.

Tiling fiberglass coping and water line

Photo of the coping. The stains are just hard water I think. I want to tile since it can take more aggressive cleaning, and I could maybe add a slope to prevent ponding.

Tiling fiberglass coping and water line

Is it possible to tile over the coping and waterline on a fiberglass pool. Both are horribly stained and nothing I try removes it.

    Repainting concrete pool deck

I think it's at least 30 years old. I'm pretty sure the prior owners just used regular paint, so no surprise it looks like Crud after a few years. Do you think a concrete floor grinder would be enough for removing the top layer, or is a heavier-duty specialty tool required? Thanks for the info.

    Repainting concrete pool deck

Thanks. Couple photos attached. Sorry for the low quality, I meant to take them when I got home but didn't get to it before dark.

    Repainting concrete pool deck

My concrete pool deck was painted (poorly) maybe a year or two before we moved in (about 7 years total now) and is in pretty poor shape. Lots of chipping, looks terrible. What do I need to do to repaint it? Should I rent a floor grinder and sand off the old layer, or is just power washing...

Robot cleaner worth it for 11,000 gal pool?

I have a ~11,000 fiberglass pool. I've just had a cheap suction side vacuum cleaner that does a poor job for the past two years, and I'm tired of constantly having to manually vacuum. Is it worth it to get a robotic vacuum on a pool this small, or would a decent suction cleaner be good enough...

    Run Solar While SLAMing?

I think they're supposed to, but mine looks like a DIY job. It's just 800' of black poly tubing in coils on the roof.

    Pressure drop after sand change?

Is it normal for the pressure to drop a couple psi after changing the sand in the filter? I went from about 26 psi before to 23 after. I'm worried there may be a gap in the standpipe above the sand that water is flowing through. When I backwash it drops to about 20 psi; on recirculate it's...

    Run Solar While SLAMing?

Do I need to leave my solar heater on while SLAMing, or once I have the tubes filled with high FC water can I turn it off?

    Pool cloudy after sand change

After a year of successfully maintaining my pool (using this forum's advice), I think I screwed things up. It started a couple weeks ago when I tried to deep clean my sand filter. When I removed the multiport valve to deep clean, it didn't lift freely but was secured to the standpipe and...

    Reuse sand after lateral replacement?

Is there any reason not to reuse the sand from the filter after removing it to replace laterals?

Just cut the pool guy loose

They do feel rough. I'm not sure if they're calcium deposits or not. There are some that are lighter and larger and don't really feel rough, and others that are some that are small and darker brown/red that feel rough, but I can't really tell if they're indentations or raise up.

Just cut the pool guy loose

Thanks for the advice. Looks like I'm just going to have to replace a whole bunch of water. Is there anything than can be done with the drained pool water? Water the garden? Grow a rice paddy? Even though I'm not paying for it, I just hate wasting water in the desert like that. Also, it appears...

Just cut the pool guy loose

I bought a house this winter with a pool, and had no idea what I was doing. I hired a pool guy for the winter but cut him loose a couple weeks ago. I think my water chemistry is all out of whack: Free/total chlorine: 3-5 (free, total, and combined were all in the 7-10+ range when I first...
