every pool builder in my area seems to think you need a 2 hp pump for a pool over 20k gallons for some reason. they all think i'm "crazy" for going with a 1/2 hp whisperflo.

Right now I have an intelliflo hooked up to a manual timer. the booster pump is also connected to a manual timer. I'm getting quotes tomorrow to replace the broken intelliflo and go with a 2 speed pump. Will the timer have to be replaced? Will any other wiring have to be done? Thanks.

i don't know who to believe. my pool guy just told me a 1/2 hp whisperflo is equivalent to level 1 on my intelliflo??? he's trying to talk me into a 1 hp, but i don't want the higher electric bill.

i think i may just go with the single speed 1/2 hp whisperflo. are you sure the 1/2 hp whisperflo will give me the approx water movement of my intelliflo on level 3? it just seems weird going from a 3 hp to a 1/2 hp.

quick question....while my main pump is down can i run my booster pump and cleaner by itself to stir up the water a little. i think i remember the pool builder saying not to do that but don't understand why? thanks

or maybe the cheap Pentair Superflo 1/2 hp, Pentair 340036. How many watts will this pull? Will this push as much water as my intelliflo on #2 speed (1800 rpm)?
