    FC loss in hot pool

my auto cover doesn’t completely block all light, my pool is also covered all the time we’re not using it, yet I still managed to get algae last year when the temperature and pool usage went up, and I didn’t adjust the SWG quickly enough to compensate for increased chlorine usage. this year I...

What are some things you didn't do, that you wish you would have when building?

I wish I had not listened to the pool builder that suggested a bench in the pool, we never use it and it just takes away swimming space. I echo the comments, about adding empty conduits while you got things open, you can never get enough ...

    Bright Blue Milk!!

The pH probe needs to be regularly calibrated using reference solutions, otherwise it can measure wildly inaccurate values. What are the active ingredients in your pH minus ? You want to use hydrochloric acid, not sulfuric acid, as it adds sulfates to water, see Muriatic Acid vs Dry Acid for...

    Bright Blue Milk!!

I don't think it is a France thing - just it is not very common in Europe, this company in Spain is the only distributor in Europe I found.

    Bright Blue Milk!!

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that approval if on the EU level, so should not be any different in France compared to Spain. However there are restrictions on what can be shipped by air, which is an issue for me in Cyprus, being an island practically everything is flown in. For you...

    Bright Blue Milk!!

I purchased a Taylor 2006 from BEHQ S.L.U. - Químicos y productos para piscinas in Spain two years ago based on a recommendation from Test kits in europe I don't recall the details, but I probably used the email address there. When you order, ask for the 2006C that contain larger quantities of...

    Pump speed and SWG production

For 1 I found that with my old single speed pump I barely produced any chlorine, unless the bypass around the SWG cell was almost entirely open. After I changed to a variable speed pump, that I run at 1000 rpm, I consistently produce chlorine even with the bypass closed. I spoke with the...

Annual Complete Refill set for TF-100 on sale through March 1-21, 2021

I was looking at ordering this yesterday, along with a few other items that brought the total above $100, which I thought would trigger free shipping within the US. However, it still quoted me $12 for shipping. I replied to the email about the offer I got, but so far no response, so I thought...

    Advise needed on pool cleaners

I'm in Cyprus too, but got an auto cover for our pool, that it is closed most of the time. The cover is by far the best thing we did in our pool build, despite everyone, including the seller, trying to talk us out of it. It keeps most of the dirt out of the pool, mostly eliminates evaporation...

    Green pool, here we go

When you're SLAMing, there is no need for the FC measurement to be super accurate, so you can use a 5ml sample of pool water, each drop of reactant is equivalent to 1 ppm of FC. You can save reactants this way.

Best Way To Maintain Chlorine Levels During Times of Travel?

I've in the past added a floater with a tablet or two to ensure some chlorine is added while I'm away. It will add CYA, but if you only use it for a few weeks every now and then, I don't see it as a real issue - just be aware.

Variable Speed Pump Recommendations for Energy Efficiency

Thanks - my current pump is single phase single speed pump, I just ordered a variable speed pump that will be delivered in a couple of weeks. But if my existing pump had been 3 phase, this would have been a good alternative.

    SWG run time calculations assistance

The extra ball valves are mainly there so I can isolate the circuit in case I need to remove the cell. If it produce bubbles, I don't see how it cannot produce chlorine. Are you sure, it is not because the FC is consumed faster than it can be produced ? You mentioned you had issues with...

    SWG run time calculations assistance

I've recently had similar issues with my SWG not producing anywhere near enough chlorine. After debugging with the manufacturer, we concluded that the issue was too high a flow rate through the cell. I too have a single speed pump, but I already had a bypass plumbed in, just the bypass valve was...

Deck Surface Drain for Auto Cover Pump?

I pump the water into the channel that the autocover rolls into, it has a drain for the water coming off the cover when rolled up, as well as rain water falling there.

How to Best cool down pool with a heat pump? Cover on or off?

I have my cover on at all times when we’re not using the pool, mainly to reduce evaporation and keep it clean. But as far as cooling, evaporation cools, so if the main goal is cooling you might be better off with the cover open. If you experiment, please let us know what you find.

How to Best cool down pool with a heat pump? Cover on or off?

I don’t run my pump for more than a few hours a day, I find if I run it during the day, then the pool temperature increases, if I run it at night it decreases. I imagine that running it during the day, means the surface water under my autocover that is heated by the sun is constantly getting...

Inconsistent bleach quantity to FC increase in PoolMath

Thanks for that, it is pretty hot here, day time peak temperature between 35-42 degrees C (95-107F) the past few weeks, average across day and night for the past two weeks is just under 30 degrees (86F). So for sure it will have lost strength - probably I'll assume it is 10-12% instead going...

Inconsistent bleach quantity to FC increase in PoolMath

It is not obvious to me why I have increased chlorine demand, I suspect I might have the beginning of an algae bloom, I've been losing 4-5 ppm of FC a day, when my normal is in 1-2 ppm range. I use an opaque safety cover, so the loss due to UV is minimal, especially as we usually use the pool...

Inconsistent bleach quantity to FC increase in PoolMath

Thanks for looking. Attached a photo below, it says 150 gram/litre, I assume that is 15%, however even if it is less it doesn’t explain why two different pages of PoolMath gives different results. However it can explain why I didn’t see as large an increase in FC as I had expected.
