Morning, folks!

I am building a pool with an auto cover. Since those require that a rain pump be on the cover when closed, I'm trying to avoid running an unsightly hose across the pool deck, as the house overlooks the pool area. Has anyone considered running a small (1" or 1 1/2") drain to the surface of the deck near the edge of the pool so that I can throw the pump on the cover, pull the surface cap on that drain, and avoid running the hose across the deck? I have an 8" drain tile to the woods that is right there that I could tie into. Thoughts?

I pump the water into the channel that the autocover rolls into, it has a drain for the water coming off the cover when rolled up, as well as rain water falling there.

Jesper - That was my initial thought also, but the CoverStar rep told me this morning that you risk overwhelming the junction box when you do that. Seems like it would take an awful lot of water to do that, but that’s what he told me. 🤷‍♂️

My channel has a 10cm x 10cm (4x4 inch) hole directly to the main drain for the house. No way a cover pump can overwhelm that...
