    Replacing Hayward Super Pump

Also, my current pump is wired with a plug, which then is just plugged into a nearby outlet near the pump, hence the 110V. This was set up this way when we moved into the house and pool company left that way when we replaced motor in '17. If I go with 200V, I'll have to have the pump hard...

    Replacing Hayward Super Pump

Ah, that would make more sense and be easier. Do you know what's involved to turn it into 220V? Guess I'm trying to figure out what that runs, but I do like the idea of just switching out the motor. Just trying to think what it'll involve from an electrician. I've done electrical before, but...

    Replacing Hayward Super Pump

Getting tired of the cost of running my 1 HP Hayward Super Pump, so I've begun researching dual or variable speed pumps. Our pool is 18x36 and I've estimated ~20,000 gallons. 1 1/2" piping. We do not have 240V wiring at the pump, so would really prefer to keep any replacement to the 120V to...

Self Closing - Year 2 Help

2nd year closing myself. Last year went ok and opened fine. I'm not convinced I got the return or main lines blown out very well last year. I use a portable air tank to blow out. Working on it this year, skimmer line I feel good about. Return line I'm working on though I still hear water in...

    Blowing Out Lines for Closing

Thank you for the help. Pic of setup. Indicated the MD line. I'm doing everything from the pad. Didn't even try returns today. I've turned off shut off valves to isolate the pipes coming up from ground and blowing thru schrader valve there. Based on your description, think I'm doing it...

    Blowing Out Lines for Closing

So, 1st time closing. Started today. Draining - Ok. Winterizing Filter, no prob. Draining pump, fine. Blowing out lines...not sure what I'm doing wrong, or maybe I'm not doing anything wrong and just confused. Using an air compressor and Schrader valve plugs to blow out lines. Using between...

    Chasing a Leak

    Chasing a Leak

Thanks. Thinking if the leak gets worse, it's obviously a much bigger deal but then it'd also be easier to find. Right now it's more of a nuisance. Worse part is just having to have a hose hooked up in the winter to add water. I did a calculation and adding 1" of water a week (based on our...

    Chasing a Leak

I'm beginning to think my best course of action is just deal with it and add water as necessary. It's ~1/8" per day give or take slightly so just about an inch per week. Just starting to think that at that rate its very difficult for anyone to find. I've spent more money trying to chase down...

    Chasing a Leak

So I did do a test all around the main drain with it plugged and pool off. Could not tell anything. I did not do any of the other fittings given the new liner and the leak predated that and those fittings. My next step I feel is to call the plumbers back out, but at $135 / hr, I don't want to...

    Chasing a Leak

Been chasing a leak for a long time now and just running out of ideas... It's very small. Around 1/8" per day. 18'x36' inground. Separate main/skimmer lines. Equipment pad is (and has been) dry. We have an electric autocover and pool is closed most of time when not in use, so we should lose...

Using K-2006 First Time, Interpreting Results

Thanks both! I actually did the CYA test twice just to verify since I expected a higher number given the puck usage. Like you said, season's almost over and my plan at the moment is to just bump my way through next month and then use winter to regroup and knowledge up.

Using K-2006 First Time, Interpreting Results

First time using the test kit, just checking my logic based on my results. Pool is ~24,000 gallons, Vinyl, Non-SWG, In-line Chlorinator, main Chlorine at the moment is Trichlor. We have an auto-cover so pool stays covered most of the time. Results: TA:130 pH: ~7.7 (I don't like the reds) CYA...

Should my motor have a cover?

Thanks. Old one did. They left old cover resting against back which has gnawed on me since that it should be there.

Should my motor have a cover?

Motor failed on my pump last year. Pool company replaced motor. See pic. Should this have a cover? Been bugging me forever but just discovering this forum. Searched forever on Internet trying to find a part, etc. but no luck. Label on motor shows a Century Centurion B128 1HP Motor.

    First Time Closing

Nothing more true has ever been spoken. Whats the saying, “ The enemy of a good plan is desire for perfect plan”... Took a deep breath laying in bed last night and feel a little better about things. Think ive started to work thru the aporoach ill take. Plan is ill do return lines first by...

    First Time Closing

Seems an option I can use on the return is to blow out via the pump, thru the filter with it on recirculate. Doing this, I'd probably plug off suction side so I do one at a time. Option C, lol... I could just remove the chlorinator and blow thru the fitting where it was connected.

    First Time Closing

No can do on the water below returns. We have auto cover so have to keep water up just below skimmer. Learned that the hard way our first winter when we didn't monitor water level and it sunk way down and broke off from side... Measured the opening in the pump from suction side and the pump...

    First Time Closing

So only thing i guess i still dont get is, on return side, given my setup, how do i to block air from going back towards the chlorinator and filter...or is that non issue? looks like ill have to buy screw in fitting where the current return line plug is so ihave sometji g for the schrader...or...
