Pentair Intelliflo VSF union nut solution

Hello - I really appreciate all the great info and resources on TFP! Last year, I replaced my main pool pump with a Pentair VSF. After learning how much energy pool pumps contribute to my monthly energy costs, this was a no-brainer. Last week, my wife noticed the connection union on the...

    Polaris PB4SQ leaking

This pump is a joke! Internet search for available parts yields nothing. The part # is R0723100 and I contacted Polaris directly when mine started to leak. If you search, you will note the many pool owners that are experiencing the same thing. Amazon reviews list it too. A pinhole leak...

    Multi port valve identification help...

Thank you all for the feedback. My thoughts were the same. I definitely noticed a new multiport, filter, and pump as they were/are much whiter than the older yellowish color of the old MPV. So was surprised with the pac fab reference. Will take pic of whole system this weekend and look...

    Multi port valve identification help...

Hi - I’m helping repair my elderly parents leaking multiport. Water is coming up below the handle in filter mode and in backwash. I think I’ve identified the need to remove and replace the o-ring on the handle shaft. I may also go ahead and replace the spider gasket, but seems that is fine...

    Mystery stain in catch basin

Thanks for the feedback. I’ll tackle this spring. Plan to remove those tiles pieces and chip away and see how far in I can go before seeing metal/rebar. Plan to follow the staining. I can fully drain the catch basin easily, so will be easier to get into that corner area.

    Mystery stain in catch basin

Greetings - wondered if anyone might provide clue as to the brown staining in the pictures. I have a catch basin that has plaster and my pool has a pebble tec finish. Don't know why pool builder did it this way. Pool was built in '02 and last summer, I painted the catch basin to address some...

    2nd thoughts about Raypak

To close the loop on this topic: I had a repair center come out and inspect. They contacted Raypak and were a bit surprised to get authorization for a new board. So, good to know Raypak addressed given heater was installed by one of their dealers and separate dealer did the service of new...

Good point. But assume my previous heater (Pentair Minimax) that was replaced by this Raypak had similar configuration? Meaning, if there is that kind of difference between heater temp sensor and inline sensor, I would have seen that issue previously? Also, can't recall if I mentioned, but...

The inline sensor is about 1' past the filter basket. See photo. The green casing near the heater is the workaround that houses parts of the 2 temp sensors. @homegame - yes, possible the wires were originally switched. Original installer came back out and corrected that given heater was...

Thanks for the info. Slowly getting to the root issues. I ordered another temp sensor and replaced yesterday. Same result. The temp was 8-9 degrees warmer. I got another manual thermometer to confirm the actual reading of my Jandy automation. I then hooked up the original temp sensor to...

Raypak propane heater has wide temperature swing

I just posted on this same issue. Same model of propane Raypak heater that has a much larger delta (in heat and non heating modes). My heater is only 1 week old and experienced this issue from day 1. I get that there is an expected differential (+/- 2F or so?) and the plumbing, etc are...

    2nd thoughts about Raypak

I'm having an issue with a newly installed Raypak digital propane heater (406btu) that replaced an old Pentair model. Unit installed last week by company recommended on Rheem site (not on Raypak which I found out today) as I wanted to ensure the year warranty was honored. Issue is the heater...

Jandy Controller with Raypak Heater Wiring

Hello - I replaced an old Pentair MiniMax heater with Raypak yesterday (propane-406k BTU) by local installer. Issues for me is that heater fires every time pool (or spa) is turned on. Only way to kill heat is turning off electrical braker to spa (or power switch on heater). Heater reads...

    Replacing pool/spa heater recommendations...

Thank you all for the helpful feedback. TFP and this forum is so great for passing along information! As for my current heater, I installed parts (module, new board, and high limit switches) and still no success. Heater is dead and like I said, unit was completely rusted out and time to...

    Replacing pool/spa heater recommendations...

Hello - I have a Pentair Minimax 400 propane heater installed in 2003. I've had some repairs over the years, but appears the time has come to replace. I am going to try and replace the board and module to see if that fixes the service light along with the high temp limits (about $340). But...

    Catch basin stains & finish

Thanks for the info jbizzle about vit C (as well as a tricolor tablet used). This helped some of the stains in the basin. However, upon further inspection and power washing, I think this is just plaster (or the glazing finish used over the concrete?) that has etched away over time. I am...
