New Intex pool vacuum to Hayward 1.5" return

Just got a house that has a metal 24' AGP with standard returns. I've owned intex pool vacs and know they work great for this type of application so I bought another one. We'll they've redesigned the vac slightly. The hose is one piece and has proprietary fittings on each end (still about...

Upgrades for Intex 16' x32' Ultraframe - Shelf, Caddy, Ladder

Added a pool fountain this week. Water temps were above 96degs and felt like getting into a bath. Cost less than $10. 3/4" PVC, some drilling, 1 1/4" x 3/4" Tee fit right into the Intex hose. No teflon tape, just hose clamps, no leaks. Was a tight fit, had to really work the hose...

Upgrades for Intex 16' x32' Ultraframe - Shelf, Caddy, Ladder

Originally I had the legs angled and braced, but wasn't nearly as sturdy so I just extended it down to the paver and scrap of wood. So much sturdier and it stays level. I was going to use a piece of plastic for the top until I found out just how expensive that stuff is. Over $30 for the...

Upgrades for Intex 16' x32' Ultraframe - Shelf, Caddy, Ladder

I'll get every penny out of this pump and when it dies I'll get a 1 hp variable speed with a salt cell. At that time I'll plumb in two returns and do the skimmer. It's funny you mentioned the skimmer through the seam. If/when I put one in I was thinking the same thing. I can't even...

So many choices! Need help deciding

Having researched pools for 3 years, inground, DIY, full construction, etc and losing a whole lot of income and switching to AGP, I think the Intex/coleman is probably the best value for the money. I just put in a 16x32 including a bunch of upgrades for under $2k. Only immediate things I...

    Intex 3 way valve

You could just install a Tee in the return line and add the fountain hose with a valve after the Tee. Unfortunately, you'll have to cut your return line and clamp the ends over the Tee and repeat for the fountain hose. Shouldn't be too hard. Lots of info on PVC adapters to Intex hoses...

Got an Intex Sand Filter but Need Info on Pool Sand

I got my sand from Ace hardware for $10 bucks a 50#bag. Have slightly smaller filter, same brand. Just backwash before you circulate and filter. Do it again after about a week. Then as needed. There will be a line on the intake tube min/max. Just follow directions. Easy peasy.

    Should we just stop????

What caused it? You could probably replace the steel joint and corner piece relatively cheap and the vinyl shouldn't keep tearing but there are methods to "repair and strengthen" it. Epoxy impregnated fiberglass or cloth might do the trick with some care. I'd sew a few inches of cloth and...

Intex 32x16x54 partial in ground installation

Good luck. I have the same pool up now for a week. Don't delay!!!!! Wish I had gotten more of the wrinkles out. Not horrible, but I don't plan on draining it.

Upgrades for Intex 16' x32' Ultraframe - Shelf, Caddy, Ladder

So it's been a week since the last drop filled the pool. What a blast!!!! If anyone's on the fence about doing it, don't even hesitate. Couldn't be a better value and those midnight moonlit swims are priceless! So, my Confer pool ladder arrived yesterday. What a breeze to assemble...

The old fashioned way. Took an 8' 2"x6", screwed some rope onto both ends and just walked around. It cuts the high spots and fills in the valleys. I sure miss the days when I had a bucket on my baby john deere. Would have been done in less than a day. But hey, it was really good...

Oh, btw. The pool was PERFECTLY level. I was so blown away. Because of my shoe/board and riding mower compacting job, I actually added about an inch to the built up side thinking all that water would self level it. And lo and behold, I mean it was dead level. Even after 3 days...
