15’ Intex , first pool, 3rd attempt putting it up

Oooohhh, that's not a bad idea. Doesn't break the bank or your back. 14" deep compaction is awesome. So you took the tiller to it first? Then came through with the North Star? Is it basically level at that point or did you screed it? What's the next step? I was fit to be tied...I...

Intex, 2100gph sand filter Pump leaks at the pre-filter/main pump junction..2nd season.

Wow, you caught me literally minutes before I was going to vaseline those rings. Right, so no vaseline (sounded weird anyway). Great advice - its why I love this website. Thank you. Follow up Question --> what about a silicon sealant (like the white "Tub N Tile" stuff) around where the...

Intex, 2100gph sand filter Pump leaks at the pre-filter/main pump junction..2nd season.

What can I do? I've recently been told to take it all apart again and apply vaseline to all the o-rings?? Apparently one can squeeze the seals too tight and the vaseline helps to...do what exactly? Make the rubber more malleable - makes a better seal maybe? Anyway, I just replaced the...

    Is this pool worth getting?

All I can say is that I've put up, taken down, destroyed, loved and lost so many above ground pools over the last 15 years, I would eat worms to be able to put in a permanent pool in-ground. Heck, I'd take a hot tub at this point. I say, 4' 6' - deep end, diving board...whatever you like...

Question about Bestway/Coleman cartridge filter cleaning

In my limited experience, its always the little things that can become bigger things. We have had the Intex bug for years but this year, with the help of a storm, purchased a new liner and frame. This is our first Coleman...with windows!! Kids are totally stoked for the windows. Good call on...

    This is only the beginning...

In all the years and all the different pools and all the lessons learned the hard way...every new year brings a new problem. Sometimes I get lucky and sometimes I don't. At the end of the day, what matters is that the kids had a blast and were safe, maybe my wife was happy, too, sometimes I...

15’ Intex , first pool, 3rd attempt putting it up

So much time is spent on the leveling...but soooo much stress comes from the kids and their little hopeful faces. "I gotta get this right" - always worried and then it's up to you alone to keep it clean. TFP took a lot of that of my shoulders.

    This PVC is taunting me...

No, just venting was helpful. Also, you reminded me of the "as you're filling it, go around and adjust the poles as the water level rises" trick. My mind was clouded hahaha. Its funny now, it wasn't yesterday. 91 degrees, no one wants to help but everyone likes to swim, I'm out there trying...

    This PVC is taunting me...

Hi . Thanks for responding... So, I've put up 6 of these above grounders over a lifetime of kids and family and such - none have given me so much grief. Currently, its brand new, set up the day before yesterday by myself (first mistake, I know) and we live in the country so we rely on...

    This PVC is taunting me...

With all that weight tho? Those poles are under huge pressure downwards as well. I cant see them sliding out away from the pool once it gets filled...??? idk tho. I'm fed up with trying to level those poles. Every time I move one into position, that strap moves the pole behind me...the one I...

Question about Bestway/Coleman cartridge filter cleaning

Hello K ! I can help with this one...: You gotta clean everything. There should be a small-ish screw-type plug near the very bottom of the casing where you place the filter cartridge. Spin that out and hose that bad boy out before you put the clean filter back in. If you leave that icky...

    This PVC is taunting me...

Super quick question: That silly PVC strip surrounding the entire pool; vertical metal frame T-posts are constricted by it...can I please remove it? What exactly is the purpose of a strap around the legs? I would like to put the metal frame poles outside of its grasp... Am I ok to bypass...

Double pumper? Is that a thing? It is now, maybe.

You don’t think it could get hot enough to melt a small “you-were-insane-to-even-try-this” hole in the liner?? I think I’m going to go for it. I’ll let you know how it goes. ?

Double pumper? Is that a thing? It is now, maybe.

Hello Dave, didnt know they made something for that hole. Also, my main pump(the sand filter pump) is only one speed. AND...if I do burn up that cheapo pump, no big...so long as it doesn’t also burn the liner which it probably would now that I’m thinking about it. Thank you for the link.

Ok, getting the hang of this now...if pics you want, then pics you shall have. This is pic#1 (original pump, 1500gph) This ugly canister with a cheapo pump inside mounts onto a huge hole in the liner, I have no choice but to leave it there. Ugh. ...and this shall be pic#2 (sand filter...

What did you do to your pool today?

“That Day” refers to the arrival of the tanker truck. With no water we could do nothing aside from, well, playing in the sprinkler...which we did. I made a slipNslide out of last year’s pool. They loved that. We call it the “Hillbilly Slough” Actually, I was wondering if they could swim while...
