    New Northeastern Pa Build

Thanks, our spa is on separate plumbing so we were able to use it into November by only heating the spa water when we wanted to. We will do that for early spring as well. Im more concerned about the main body of water, which is around 50 degrees at the moment. My electric heater would takes...

    New Northeastern Pa Build

Hey Jimim, Im probably not too far from you (Lansdale area). With opening so early, what do you do to control temperature in our area? We are opening in the next week or 2 but im hesitant to heat the pool up (electric heater) with how dramatic our weather changes are. We do have a spa, so we...

placement of pump, heater etc - need input

Some things to keep in mind. The further your run is, the more work the equipment needs to do, this may only be applicable if u have a spa or jets. This is obvious, but nothing goes under the pool so look at your runs framed around the pool regarding length. I would go option 1, and have...

    Leaky Spa

Hey guys, just want to get a few more eyes looking at our issue to make sure everything makes sense. Here is a link to the build completed last summer. New Rectangular In Ground Build (in progress) Eastern PA My builder closes and opens the pool for the first year using a local pool care...

How does this look-New pool build in Mckinney Texas

We had this same concern. Ill post a link below to our build as it has some finished pictures on the 2nd page. We have similar geometry. We love (love love love) the seat we carved out in the deep end. Is that something you guys would use? What will be the main purpose of the spa? We chose...

How to choose between SWG and chlorine pool?

The PBs i talked too in eastern PA will only do chlorine if the customer strongly rejects the SWG. They are 99% SWG at this point. Have your PB explain to you why he believes chlorine is in your best interest. Since you have read up on SWG you will be able to quickly debunk the 'urban...

Pre-Planning New Build in Houston Need Advice

Pricing is going to be region specific, cant help w that. One suggestion, when u find the home/yard you like, stop at the township and ask if a pool can go in. They wont be able to show u plans but should be able to tell u if there are utilities or setbacks or drainage concerns preventing a...

Bluestone Coping and Heat - need advice

Ill post our link below. We used black onyx coping. As others have said, it gets hot, but ur around a pool and a splash of water takes care of it. In direct sun we need flops on our darker patio but i figure most people do. The thing is, our coping is kind of like a hot stone feature. We...

    Price negotiating?

We started with a budget and a wish list and builders were pretty straight forward about what we could get for our budget. A&S said they couldnt do it for our budget so we shook hands and left. The emailed a few day later to say they were having a 'sale'.... Yeah right. One lesson we...

Propane or Electric heater for small pool and spa

We chose electric over propane for our 50sf spa. We also considered having to heat the pool in spring/fall as we live in PA. Didnt want to pay for propane to do that. It takes our spa about 75 minute to go from ~79 to ~101 degrees. After we figured out the timing it became easy to manage...

New Rectangular In Ground Build (in progress) Eastern PA

I think we are around 1.5-2 gal/week right now. My S&D is 20 gal (4/16 acid/water) and just filled it with gal 13-16... Local pool shop (not associated with my builder) said they have seen gunite pools eat acid for up to 5 years... not something i was ever told!. At least the cost isnt crazy!

    The smallest brown stains.

No luck with the puck. I had a half broken puck and scraped some chlorine over the dots and then put the puck on it for about 10 min. I didnt notice any change. Good idea, Ill give this a try tomorrow. Thank!

Thanks for the compliments everyone! We are very happy with the end result. It looks great at night with the lights but doesnt photo all that great. Thanks Gorilla. Yes S&D is up and running, and to be honest, it pretty great... I've really only had to check the alkalinity as it creeps down...

    The smallest brown stains.

Yeah, i could live with these. I'd prefer to remove or 'bleach to white' if possible though. I just don't want to do anything that will make it worse or damage the plaster. Anyone have any ideas?

New Rectangular In Ground Build (in progress) Eastern PA

Thanks Kim, the builder needs to grout/seal the gap between the coping and the concrete. The landscaper (who is the builders guy) needs to re-rake and seed the yard again (they left it full of rocks) and fix/level the stepping stones as they just placed them on top of the river rock and are...

    The smallest brown stains.

Pool was filled July 1, I feel like i noticed them a couple week after that. I was brushing so much dirt throughout the pool it was hard to tell what was permanent. We had a 8"ish stain in the shallow end we saw right away, builder addressed it. We wernt home but i assume they acid washed it...

    The smallest brown stains.

Hey all, been a long summer, but we finally are wrapping up our project. I have 4 or 5 tiny brown stains on my sunshelf that are most likely from landscaping taking 6 weeks to complete after water filling. I was brushing dirt/mud every day. These stains are far from major, but I figure ill...

    New Pool in Pennsylvania

As others have said, adding 1.5 ft to a retaining wall should not double the cost. Most of the cost is leveling the base... then just mats and time from there. We were worse than bait and switched. Went from not needing a wall at all to hearing 'you know, we probably should have a retaining...

Pool Door Alarms. Using home Alarm System.

This may be in line with other posts that you have read, and it is different for every situation, but the alarms we need to pass inspection are not at all practical for every day use. Batteries came out as soon as we installed them and they will go back in when the final inspection is scheduled.

Diving board, slide, volleyball, shelf. Is it possible without a gigantic pool?

I'm going through this now. To up my HO from 500K-1M its like $40, but the 1M umbrella policy (that would kick in when my 500K HO is exhausted) is ~$300. My insurance company struggled to explain why the Umbrella made sense with the above numbers, and at the same time, everyone i know says the...
