Using 180 sweep fitting instead of two 90's?

I'm going to be assembling a loop for a vertical SWCG install and I'm wondering if there's any reason I can't use a 180 sweep/bend fitting at the top of the loop instead of two 90's? Seem like less friction loss and fewer parts. But maybe there's a reason you don't see them much on pool...

Jim, thank you. That sounds like a simple solution.

Easy Touch 8 and Circupool RJ60 SWG

I have a Circupool RJ60 SWG arriving tomorrow and I'm wondering if I can use one of the aux relays in the Easy Touch 8 panel to activate the SWG when the pump (VS) comes on. My guess is no, but I thought I'd ask. Or maybe there's a better way to wire it in the ET8. Thanks.

    Wet niche grounding question

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the quick feedback.

    Wet niche grounding question

I still need to determine if the niche is metal or plastic, but I would assume that either would be connected to the bonding grid (the plastic ones via a metal strip connected to the interior and exterior bonding lugs).

    Wet niche grounding question

All I know is that the green wire runs from the light niche to the deck junction box. I can only assume that the answer to your question is yes (and thus my concern).

    Wet niche grounding question

During construction we're having done at our house, the conduit that connects the wet niche (pool light) to the junction box was damaged, requiring us to cut the green #8 ground wire and the lamp cable. The breaker for the lights has been turned off. Obviously I will be repairing the conduit...

    What is this white stuff?

Thanks -- very helpful. Good catch -- it's usually near 7, often higher during the summer. We don't get too much direct sunlight on the pool in the winter, so I have a little more flexibility with the FC levels.

    What is this white stuff?

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll look up how to get rid of it, but any tips would be appreciated!

    What is this white stuff?

See the attached photos -- what is this white stuff? This is only happening near the spa spill-over, and no where else around the pool -- it's an eyesore on an otherwise perfectly looking pool (thanks to this site). Here are my numbers: FC 4 pH 7.5 TA 50 CH 250 CYA 40

Just a quick update since my first post 3 months ago. All is good and I can't say enough about the people on this forum. My wife thinks I'm now a pool dork, but I can live with that.

Quick update. The pool has been hovering at the following: FC 7.0 with minimal chlorine added each evening per pool math app. CC 0.0 PH 7.5 CY 50 (not surprising) CH 400 Pool owner stress 0.0 I've been losing about 0.5-2.0 FC each day depending on the amount of sun and oak tree droppings...

Tested again today. FC went from 13.5 to 11.5 CC still at 0.5 (barely, how pink is pink?? it was more of a very very light tint of pink, almost clear) PH went from 8.2 to 7.8 CYA at 50 (between 40 and 50) - just wanted to test again to confirm yesterday's reading I stopped at Leslie's today...

It does make me wonder about all of the pools in the neighborhood. I never gave it a second thought and I'm sure most don't. By the way, turning on the lights really emphasize the clarity. I really didn't want a pool when we bought the house (because of all the horror stories I hear), but...

Yes the water is much clearer. In fact my wife called me at work to tell me so. Thanks for the guidance, I'm feeling much more in control of the pool.

I drained and filled the pool this weekend, and here are my before and after readings. Before / After FC 1.5 / 13.5 (I added bleach this morning without knowing what the CYA levels would be) CC 0.0 / 0.5 CH 825 / 400 TA 100 / 100 CYA 140 / 50 PH 7.6 / 8.2 Still a lot to...

Ok cool thanks. I'll plan to do the drain this weekend. I just checked with the pool contractor and evidently it's a 24.5k gallon pool, not 17k. Glad I called.

Thanks Jim, this is all very helpful. I just ran the diluted CYA test and it's at 140. My biggest concern about draining the pool is potential damage. It's a new gunite/pebbletec pool if that makes any difference. We're on septic, so no sewer fees. Do I drain down the driveway? And how much?

Thanks, I closed the chlorine dispenser and added bleach according to the pool math app. Will run the diluted CYA test tomorrow. Thanks again.

First time pool owner here. We moved into our house about 6 weeks ago and the pool guy's last day was this Monday. I received my TF-100 kit today and got some readings that I could use some guidance on: FC 1.5 (confirmed by both chlorine tests that came with the kit) CC 0 CH 825 TA 100 CYA...
