What would cause my Chlorine reading to go up overnight doing the OCLT. At 11:00 I took a reading off 22.5 . Now at 5:45am the reading is at 25. Yes, abuse the FAS-DPD kit. New sand put in our filter before starting SLAM.

We decided to go ahead and change our filter sand. I will let you know how it goes in the morning. Just in case I am starting a slam again today, even with the new sand. Water is clear and I pray it stays that way.

Were you able to get rid of the dead algae? Ours still keeps getting the dead algae on the bottom. I just vacuumed this morning and it is already back. Slammed for about a week. Passed everything. FRUSTRATING!Have not been able to swim!

We have passed all 3 criteria for the SLAM this morning. But since we are expecting a ton of rain over the next 3 days(3-4 inchea), I am going g to continue a high level for the rest of the day just to make sure it is really gone. Mustard algae level for 24 hours. I hope it is really gone.

How many hours should you wait between the night reading and the morning reading. Would from 8:30pm til 3:30 am be enough time to do the OCLT?

I remember last year that there is a way to make your reagents in this kit last longer. Is it use just 1 scoop of powder and then 1 or 2 drops of R-0871 until it turns. I will be slamming and checking my free chlorine often and CC. Please help. Starting slam this evening
