    help understanding cya and shock

I really appreciate your patience and advice. Is cal hypo the same as the trichlor pucks? They are able to keep 3"'pucks fairly consistent. Does the cal hypo raise the cya?

    help understanding cya and shock

Sorry if it is confusing. This is a chlorine pool. (I am using bacquacil in my own pool, this is my paren'ts pool). I am trying to get my parents pool situated, because due to some events, they have been unable to keep it clear this summer. As I stated previously, it is not a situation where I...

oops posted too soon 2. what do you suggest I do when I test water weekly (bring to swim level or shock level?) 3. what do you suggest I have pool guy do. He only uses the dip strips and I think he's been throwing a couple bags of shock in. I come to realize he does not understand pool...

    help understanding cya and shock

First let me say, thank you for all your advice. Also, this will definitely be a nonconventional trouble free pool because (without going into too much detail here) there is no physical way my parents can pour chlorine every day in pool and it is not the time to change system. I definitely...

Multiport bypassing sand on filter setting

ooooohhhhh! so smart...why didn't I think of that ?????? I put a little trash, never saw it come out. Put some baby powder... never saw it come out. when I had to lower water earlier in summer, I backwahsed for about 5 minutes. Ever since then the pressure has been amazing. Is it possible I...

Multiport bypassing sand on filter setting

So how would I know if the water was actually going through the sand? The water pressure coming into the pool is really strong. Seems stronger than usual. On the flip side, my pool has been going like it is for a week and it is crystal clear. I am using a sock in filter basket.

Multiport bypassing sand on filter setting

So I watched video and knew i could change that. However, mine is a "super clear" and apparently, the spider gasket comes glued into the multiport and you have to buy the entire multiport. So, went to pool store, they sod me one similar but a different brand and were positive it would work. It...

Multiport bypassing sand on filter setting

It seems that when I have my multiport set to filter it is only recirculating. I think this because: There is a lot of water pressure when set on filter(the same amount as if I put setting on recirculate and more than I am accustom to seeing). The clear bubble that shows if water is...

One week of bacquacil and want to convert!

So, I just installed a new liner and wanted to try bacquacil (again) because I thought it would keep liner looking new longer. (Knowing I would probably only get a couple of years of using Bac before the problems began-I had used it for several years and converted to TFP method in 2017, 2018)...

do you really test EVERY day?

Well, thanks for all of the info. I have found myself testing every day. It has definitely leveled off and I am really getting a feel for how much I need to add. I have missed a day or two here and there and have just guesstimated, and then checked following day. All seems to be going well...

do you really test EVERY day?

I just started with the TFP program and am really loving it. But am concerned whether I can really keep this up every day for a complete pool season, much less several years. I have a little bit of a distraction problem! I am diligent right now, even journaling every day what I do, but...

    support with chlorine maintenance

Thanks: checked out recommeded levels, I had seen that, but was not sure (because it says 90+) what would actually be considered high enough to need to lower it. I though maybe it was better to keep it lower. Am I correct in understanding, that as long as I can keep my ph in check I don't have...

    support with chlorine maintenance

Well, that was what my rain gauge said (probably as accurate as pool store lol). But truly huge storms our way for several weeks. Read somewhere we had 9 inches last month and already 2-1/2 inches this month. Does rain use up chlorine too? I am thinking it must. I am draining about an inch of...

    support with chlorine maintenance

That has actually been with no swimmers and with 3 kids for an hour or so during day. We have had an enormous amount of rain...5 inches one day, probably 1-2 at least every day. Does that effect chlorine (I am close to trees, so some debris but now major when it rains) I actually leave my pump...

I am in Louisiana and new to forum have been reading and ready to get some help. Started out 2 weeks ago with a green swamp, as my pump was not running all winter.
