    Suction Side Leak Confirmed.....But Where....*brickwall*

Well, I went ahead and created the bypass pipes that individually routed the skimmer and main drain suction to the pump individually and tested them one at a time. Tested the skimmer line first, there were a few lingering bubbles into the pump basket after allowing the pump to run at 2600RPM...

    Suction Side Leak Confirmed.....But Where....*brickwall*

Pump basket lid: Check...this made no difference Pump basket drain valves: Check...only one on the Intelliflo, there is a second one but it is pressure side. Regardless I have checked them both, o-rings are there, I have not teflon taped them, will go do that. Unions: Check (actually...

    Suction Side Leak Confirmed.....But Where....*brickwall*

So, I had another thread in this section, where I recently replaced my pump and redid my whole equipment pad... https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/157119-Looks-like-its-time-for-a-new-pump-blessing-in-disguise So I have a suction side leak....or two...or more. My suction setup is basically...

Looks like its time for a new pump....blessing in disguise

Like Jim said, my previous pump wasn't attached to the remnants of the concrete slab it sat on and reading around here it seemed virtually everyone was just letting the plumbing hold the pump in place. its definitely not going anywhere! Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm really pleased...

Looks like its time for a new pump....blessing in disguise

Well....a few finishing touches still needed but about 95% complete. Just need to run the waste line and put some drain holes through the block wall surrounding my pad. I also have one joint between the pump and filter that is dripping under high RPMs that I'll have to cut out and replace...

Looks like its time for a new pump....blessing in disguise

Any reason for check valves in my setup? I bought a couple before reading up on them and now am realizing the only place I could potentially put one is between the pump and the sand filter. My setup is basic, no SWG, no heater. Two lines from the pool to the pump, one line to the pump, one...

Looks like its time for a new pump....blessing in disguise

Got the pump, looks great. Brand new exactly as expected. Took a couple looks at the pad while I was home, this is going to require some minor plumbing modifications and there isn't really any extra pipe on some of these joints to cut and reattach so.... Time to replumb the whole pad. :) I...

Sorry....I should clarify, when I say LPS I just mean Local Pool Store, I do everything I can to not step foot inside Leslie's. I will definitely look for those connectors when I pick it up thanks!

Well, got a line on a 011056 from a LPS for 950 out the door, which seems like a pretty decent price. Self-install doesn't seem too complicated so unless I can find a better option that's probably the route I will go. The PL2616 is tempting as well, but...the ability to get the 011056 today is...

The Inyopool Pureline pumps look decent, however I can only find one consumer review of any sort and its not even on the VS pump. While I have a relatively high degree of faith in Inyopool....I'm not inclined to go a route I can't at least do some research on.

Looks like its time for a new pump....blessing in disguise

A guy at the LPS was just talking to me about these and was recommending the Hayward Tristar 950 as a viable option that....doesn't require professional install to maintain the warranty, which is a big plus in my book. Not to mention a year longer warranty. Also appears to have a keypad that...

Looks like its time for a new pump....blessing in disguise

So, been a while since I stopped by here. Probably because life has been hectic and my pool has been well....trouble free! That being said, the other day a series of unfortunate events occurred in my backyard and long story short...my pump appears to have died. This isn't a bad thing, it was...

    Fiancee's Numbers

Sorry to hear about the algae... You don't need to shock, you need to SLAM. But before you can SLAM, that PH has to get down to 7.2-7.5. I'll reiterate what I said before...if you want to use TFP methodology, ditch the pool service. Doing both won't work. TFP works. It works beautifully...

    Fiancee's Numbers

Ok, so you have a TF-100, but the pool service is using pucks. FC, CYA, and TA are all out of desired range. I don't see a reading for PH. CYA needs to ideally be cut in half. FC needs to be brought up based on the chart Woodyp linked above. Once those things are sorted out, then the TA...

    Fiancee's Numbers

That CYA level is on the verge of unmanageable and as woody pointed out the FC is too low. This is a recipe for disaster. Fire the pool guy, get a test kit, and then you can be the pool boy and she can have a TFP. Win-win for everyone.

What did you do to your pool today?

So what I gathered from this, is I need to send my kids to your house to dig up your back yard and find the money while you are out of town on a fishing trip when your in-laws come to visit. Sounds like a plan!

Clearing a swamp pool - need help!

This is great, definite progress, nice work! Be patient and persistent, clearing a pond is not a fast or effortless process. However, using the SLAM process to the letter it is relatively foolproof. Don't let up, for a single day. Its really important to accurately figure out this CYA...

What did you do to your pool today?

Added about 20ppm of CYA, between splashing and evaporation it had dropped a bit over time. Bumped the PH down a bit. Gave the daily FC dose....and took a moment to enjoy the sparkly goodness of my TFP. Following the success of my endeavors with TFP....I am also looking for solutions for the...

14 years of pool stores and failure...

Jeez, has it really been a month? Things have been nuts. Work has been insane, start of summer crazy as usual, and the sun is trying to boil us alive. Let's be honest, I haven't had time to do basic life functions much less time to dedicate to the pool. So of course you know what happened...

total newb, don't know where to start with my TF-100

Just keep at it and don't give up. Make sure you are meticulous about staying on top of the FC and daily brushing. I only added DE once, and it was when the pool was 98% clear. Your pool will come around. And yes, adding water after a backwash is pretty normal assuming you let it run for at...

    Help with filter pressure

If you are vacuuming sediment off the bottom, frequent backwashing is pretty common based on my experience. Do you have a vacuum to waste option on your pump? When I was dealing with some hellacious green pool clean-up (Pre-TFP), it wasn't uncommon that I had to backwash the pool MULTIPLE...
  27. Numb

Silly question: how do *you* vacuum?

I do this same exact thing. Every forward sweet is a nice line, the backward sweep basically overlaps the old and new. Vacuuming quickly doesn't do any good, debris just swirls around the vacuum head. Moderate steady pace knocks it out fairly quickly. I will admit, since adopting TFP...

total newb, don't know where to start with my TF-100

Awesome update. Sounds like you are all over this SLAM. Not mentioned so I'm just going to say it, but make sure you have that daily brush going on as well as vacuum when needed. It may cause temporary regression but it will clear in relatively short order and you'll still see daily progress...

First time with Taylor Testing Kit

Well, the good news is, there is zero doubt it needs a SLAM but it isn't horrible by any stretch. Sounds like you guys are still taking different approaches here, unless you're just buying time until SLAM'ing and I'm reading it wrong. The TFP methodology works beautifully, but it requires...

    New pool owner

Looking good, almost there sureshot. You've got one of three conditions met to exit the SLAM: You are done when: CC is 0.5 or lower; You pass an OCLT (ie overnight FC loss test shows a loss of 1.0 ppm or less); And the water is clear. Keep at it until that CC is .5 or under and then it'll...
