    Grout, mortar, or something else?

Thank you! It looks like it was tan years ago, do you know if that’s from an additive or does it come in tan?

    Grout, mortar, or something else?

I hope I’m posting in the right place. We have flagstone coping and some of the material between the stones is cracked. I chiseled out a line assuming it was grout but it seems much harder than any grout I’ve used (for tiles). If possible would someone be able to attempt to help me identify the...

    Severed return jet line.

Using four 90s is exactly what they did. They also in so many words “blamed” us for them hammering a stake into the return line because the line wasn’t directly under the original deck. My thought is, how is it supposed to get under the deck being that the filter is 50 feet away?!?! Here’s a...

    Severed return jet line.

Just an update: The guys came back today and told my wife that they're cutting the pipe and putting a sleeve on it. Unless sleeve is his way of saying replacing the broken section, does this sound right? I'm not home, but I did tell my wife to get clarification.

    Severed return jet line.

Whew! Thanks everyone! That's reassuring. I would've never thought to test it with the pump off, noted!

    Severed return jet line.

We currently have a company demoing and re-pouring our concrete pool deck. In the process of putting down the form one of the young inexperienced guys drove a stake through our return jet line. After hearing a huge commotion, my wife went outside to see what was going on and the head guy asked...

Any idea what this pipe is for?

Thanks for the insight! It’s definitely not a booster line, although we do have a booster for our Polaris vac. The plumbing was redone prior to us buying the house maybe it was from the old installation. There’s what looks like a ball valve when I unscrew it. I think I will just cap it. Thanks...

Any idea what this pipe is for?

I hope I’m posting in the right place. I’ve had this small PVC pipe sticking up out of the ground with a bent rubber hose (wrapped with copper wire) attached to some kind of valve. I never paid it much attention until today when trying to locate my water temp sensor. It’s been like this since we...

Metal stains, Algae, Mottling, or other?

Thanks guys! The pool cleaning company came out yesterday and said it's definitely mineral deposits and not to worry too much. My two options were to drain and acid wash (which he didn't feel was necessary), or wait until the weather warms up some and they would be able to get in and scrub...

Metal stains, Algae, Mottling, or other?

I'm a fairly new pool owner that I inherited from the previous homeowner and I've used this forum almost exclusively to learn as much as I can. There's a weird dark purplish discoloration on the pool walls and floor that I don't believe were there when we moved in 3 months ago. I rubbed a...

    Low pressure.

Thanks for the responses! It makes sense after reading it that the pressure would be high if the return line were clogged. There's definitely water coming out of the jets and waterfall, my initial thought was a bad gauge until I started getting a reading by switching how the water returns. Can...

    Low pressure.

I'm a new pool owner and thanks to reading this forum I've been able to keep it's chemistry at ideal levels (so far). I've been trying to learn my pumping system as much as I can in my month long ownership but I'm still a complete novice. We had rare freezing temperatures here in New Orleans...
