Adding CYA to new water to no effect

just because it's out of the sock doesn't mean it will register in the test

Adding CYA to new water to no effect

I've seen it take up to a week plus to register - no idea why, I just know don't over add until it has time to be absorbed and register

    Pool Math App

I've actually never referred back to it, so I'm good with losing it. But is that what I need to do, delete and start over to be able to save the current results?

    Pool Math App

used to let you save your latest, last log (in other words, your current test results, but it won't allow me to enter them anymore). If that's changed, then that's the issue I guess. If that's the case though, you wouldn't be able to save anything which doesn't make sense. I may have to delete...

    Pool Math App

Don't want to, but it won't allow me to add the latest log. I'm not renewing. All I care about right now is the last set of results so no need to renew.

    Pool Math App

Past couple of years I had subscribed to the pool math app so I could keep long term tabs on pool's history. I've discontinued my subscription since I rarely need to look back in depth. The TFP method has made my pool surprisingly stable. I'm guessing that since I won't be able to keep more than...

Dolphin Active 20 seems worthless so far

    Hayward pump has failed again.

after my second high dollar hayward giving me problems in about the same time frame, I just gave up on the 'high end' pumps and started buying the generic pumps. I figured if I had to replace them anyway, it wouldn't sting as much. I've been pleasantly surprised.

    Level Clay Lawn?

Keep doing what you're doing. Wish there was a quicker way, but short of hauling out the clay and hauling in good topsoil, you're on the right track. I'm in SWGA and dealing with the same issues. Aerate, aerate, aerate and keeping adding nutrients with compost as you do. Sand won't hurt, but if...

Skimmer doesn’t seem to be doing much

Do you have a functioning weir door on your skimmer? and is your filter clean? I'll let someone else help with valve settings, I don't want to tell you incorrectly.

So many questions. Drowning and discouraged

You're doing fine. That vacuum is fine. Have you filtered any of the water since you flocked (through the sand filter)?

So many questions. Drowning and discouraged

if you floc'd it, don't filter. vacuum to waste and continue to do so until you're confident it's as out as it can be. Your manual vac is definitely the best tool right now. I'll let others try to diagnose the main issue, but what you've done appears to have helped

Anyone use or install a Flume2 water monitor recently ...

just as an FYI, I purchased my flume because I was concerned about the amount of water I was being charged for. I really have no idea what a 'normal' amount of water usage is and I just figured family of 3, pool and irrigation system that 'x' gallons seemed about right. Turns out I had a leak...

Anyone use or install a Flume2 water monitor recently ...

bought a flume 2 prior to summer. Saved me once already (toilet flapper) and just knowing how much water I'm using helps tremendously. I'd buy it again tomorrow.

    Will Borax prevent algae growth?

pretty sure borates will not solve your problem. The only thing that will solve your problem if all else is balanced is chlorine.

    Old style eyeball fittings

my pool isn't 50 years old, but I found this site while researching switching mine out as well. I've never found anything that's fit quite like I think it should, but have you considered replacing the whole sleeve so that the inner part and the outer parts are from the same manufacturer? I stare...

Please help me diagnose this! Pink bacteria

I'm sorry, but just going to be blunt here. If you're quoting 'all sources', it tells me you're likely trying to pick and choose the information you'd agree to follow. That's fine, but the TFP system works, just not in conjunction with other 'sources'. If you're bent on stopping the slam for...

Reducing pool temps, has anyone tried this?

Been there, done that. Got done with the yard one day, jumped in the pool and started sweating. Temps in Southwest Georgia can be brutal in the summer. Ended up getting something like this https://www.lowes.com/pd/CASAINC-12-ft-Cantilever-Patio-Umbrella-with-Base-in-Brick-Red/5001747251 - made a...

Please Be Easy On Me :)

I know several people have mentioned it, but I haven't seen anyone actually come out and say it - Look into a Salt Water Chlorine Generator when you have time. It basically removes the need to have to hunt for chlorine which has become difficult. I absolutely love mine...

Replacing dead IC40 with IC60, should fit? & retailer question

Just throwing this out there as well for protection. A lot of credit card companies will allow you you issue a 'virtual' card number for online purchases these days to protect yourself against this exact kind of issue. That way if it works out, awesome. If it doesn't, report it as fraud and keep...
