So the Baquacil part of the forum has been eliminated?

Thanks so much. Sorry again for getting testy. Been a tough Christmas season this year with my wife having been taken to the hospital by ambulance on the 23rd.

So the Baquacil part of the forum has been eliminated?

Sorry for over-reacting. It's just that - as you and others know - I've surely taken enough ribbing over the years and alot of it undoubtedly justifiable since I've threatened to convert and never did. Surely frustrating for everyone who has been so helpful and encouraging. Had I not found a...

So the Baquacil part of the forum has been eliminated?

No need to get insulting. I no longer have any interest whatsoever in converting back to chlorine since all the problems I've been reporting over the years no longer exist. Baqua is working fine for me. I'm simply asking on behalf of others who might be considering conversion, etc. Cut me some...

So the Baquacil part of the forum has been eliminated?

I don't see it. Unfortunate cause there are still people here who either ask questions about converting to chlorine or else aren't certain and want to know more, etc.

Water chemistry before closing a mesh-covered fiberglass pool to compensate for rainfall & draining

Great advice! I also have a mesh cover and over the winter frequently check the pH and adjust as needed. I just pull the cover part way off, pre-dissolve the sodium bicarbonate or sodium bisulfate, then I use my kayak paddle to agitate the water best I can. Works pretty well.

Anyone having trouble with newer expansion plugs leaking after blowing out lines?

that's why I have a bunch of them saved. Part of the issue is the sharp angle the return plugs go in on. Pretty much a 45 degree angle coming in the pool so have to get them in just the right way. Another thing is when the plaster was redone it's built up pretty heavy right around the returns so...

Anyone having trouble with newer expansion plugs leaking after blowing out lines?

2nd year in a row that I've had to resort to my collection of saved older plugs. My two return lines use a #6 plug. It seems that the rubber on these newer ones is stiffer and less flexible than older ones. Thinking I might buy them from a different website next year. Until the past several...

    Sad Day - Closed Pool!

I hear you. Fall trip here also. Next year NO trips planned so I'm gonna keep the pool open till I'm good and ready to close it rather than "having" to close it by a certain date. Somehow makes it harder.

Another first-time closer in the mountains of VA...seeking guidance

Is this your specialty? Closing pools?? Great advice given on multiple threads!

    Closing pool

That'd be nice and makes sense, but I just can't manage it with fall travel - have to close before I leave. By the time I get around to opening in spring, water is already mid-70s.

M...thanks for checking this out. I had been wondering what this product is.

    Would like to convert

Your sanitizer level is fine. I have discovered - as part of fighting these biofilms, etc. - that it's important to keep the sanitizer level up. It's so easy to get complacent about it cause it doesn't need to be tested all that often. This is good stuff and makes the water even feel better...

    Would like to convert

If you're looking to close fairly soon, no need to add any CDX, which only allegedly helps to preserve oxidizer level (I question how much it truly does). Line Clean would be good if you're going to run the filter at least a few more days, but if not this could wait till next year also (unless...

    Would like to convert

Biguanide is extremely stable in the water. Being a baqua user, I never checked the B level until last winter and was astounded to find there was still 30 ppm (this was sometime in late March) after last adding some the previous September. Not the best way to do any sort of pool testing. I...

    Newby with pool problem!

What type of filtration? Can you test for your biguanide and oxidizer levels?

    Newby with pool problem!

I can't argue this point. Baqua is surely way more expensive than chlorine. Some of what I read here is people having trouble with SLAM and having to add large amounts of chlorine. Same for conversions UNLESS you plan to drain the water. At most I only test my water once a week and often not...

    Newby with pool problem!

This is simply NOT true if you find a solution that works to get rid of it. I don't see it at all anymore since starting to use Ahhsome once a month and Baquacil Line Clean (MPS) every week. Water is usually very clear. Is it "TFP" clear? Probably not, but I really don't care if it is or not...

Has Anyone Been Successful with Baquacil?

Assuming you meant to say, "to convert to chlorine" (?) Other than to simply make money, not sure why a pool store would even suggest adding mps / non-chlorine shock as a means of beginning a conversion. What part of NON-chlorine shock don't they get? Speaking of which, though - in keeping with...

Any advice on handrails for inground pool?

Heard back from my local pool guy. He said he could do this and recommends the Saftron - can't get to it at least till late fall though, so I have some time to think on it. Plenty of other more needy projects yet this summer that are of higher priority. Thanks for ALL the ideas and helpful...

Any advice on handrails for inground pool?

Any advice on handrails for inground pool?

Love this reply of a few years ago from a similar thread ...someone posted looking for a "non-permanent" sort of handrail system... ......."Or maybe just something sturdy on the edge of the pool to lean on. Not sure what, chaise lounge, tractor, bench, kid ..." lol......I like the tractor...

    Replastering

There are typically pressure relief plugs screwed into the bottom of the pool that I was always told need to be removed once the water gets towards the bottom. However, the guy that did mine didn't unscrew them...thankfully the pool didn't "float". We're up on top of a hill though so likely no...

Any advice on handrails for inground pool?

seems to be the best way to go regardless of which railing / support system is chosen IF the idea is to remove parts (or most) to accommodate a cover. Either way, I'd get someone to do all this to make sure it's done correctly. See what I hear back, if anything, from the local repair guy.

Any advice on handrails for inground pool?

James....thanks. I really appreciate it and will take a look at the videos; however, I'm just very hesitant to do much of anything myself with this deck, short of maybe the smaller holes for anchors such as would be the case with the first (metal) railing I initially posted. That looked...

Any advice on handrails for inground pool?

Not me...not about to drill that big a hole...but thanks for the suggestion! I'm just going to let this idea sit on the backburner for the time being till doing further research on it.
