    Main Drain Clip-on

I've been using http://www.maindrainclipon.com clips for about a year now, without any issue. I did purchase the installation tool though, which attaches to the end of my brush/net pole. The best part is that my Hayward Navigator NEVER gets stuck on my main drains any more.

Tiny stones in my pump basket

Thanks for taking the time to consider it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't overlooking a maintenance task.

Tiny stones in my pump basket

I've not noticed them in the pool. I have a Hayward Navigator(Goby)

Thanks. The pool is 3 years old.

Tiny stones in my pump basket

So, I'll begin by saying that my Hayward automatic pool vac picks up everything. It's really quite good. Anyway, I've noticed lately that increasingly, I'm finding accumulations of tiny pieces of stone in my pump basket after vacuuming. I don't have any stone like this in my yard, so I'm...

    Aquarite display needs resetting daily

I was just looking at the installation guide, and I believe you have identified my problem. Time to get the installer on the phone. Thank you! Update: Hayward also confirmed what you have stated.

    Aquarite display needs resetting daily

I've been having a similar problem, whereby every time the SWG takes a salt reading while the pump is NOT running, it gets a low reading, and then it never recovers until I manually reset it. Then, it's fine until the pump turns off again via the timer. So, every day, I have to go out and reset...

    CYA test question

I would SLAM it according to the 90 reading. The worst thing that can happen is that you waste a few $$. I was too conservative with my early SLAMs last (my first) season, and I tolerated less-than-crystal-clear water for too long because I didn't SLAM it with a high enough chlorine level. Then...

    North Carolina Pool Closing

I've read another thread in which you said the same. Did you have to run the pump 24/7 during freezing temps? I don't currently have a timer, and when I travel during the winter months, I would have to leave the pump running 24/7 while I'm away. I would also have to get a "dummy pipe" to...

    North Carolina Pool Closing

This is my first season with the pool. We moved into this home in May of this year, and due to these forums, I've had great success all season. I've never owned a pool previously. The average high temp in Jan. is 51, and the average low is 32. This is typically the coldest month of the year...

    North Carolina Pool Closing

After reading related threads here, and many other sources of similar information, I'm still not 100% sure how to safely winterize my IG pool in the Raleigh NC area. I don't want to run my pump all winter, so I've decided to winterize/close it until spring. What I think I know: - clean...

    Grey algae?

Thanks! These forums have really helped to make my first season as a pool owner a good experience.

    Grey algae?

Well, it looks like it was algae. Either it was a really strong variety, or I'm not measuring my CYA accurately, but I had to crank the FC up to 40ppm to finally beat it. No more signs of algae yesterday, and it passed the OCLT last night. :)

    Grey algae?

I've not suspected sand because I've been failing the OCLT (-1.0 to -1.5), and assumed it's something biological. As my last post indicated, I've increased the FC level to see if that helps. Once the threat of thunderstorms passes, I'll get in it for a closer look where it accumulates in the...

    Grey algae?

It was difficult to pick up, but on the steps, it seemed more gritty than slimy. The steps weren't slippery at all. And, it's still here :-( ... TA 90 CYA 70 FC 34 CC ? pH 7.6

    Grey algae?

I am a first-season pool owner, but thanks to these forums, I've had a mostly trouble-free pool all season. I did have to apply the SLAM procedure back in July to knock out some algae that had gotten away from me, and it worked just as described. However, I've been recently facing a grey...

    Measuring high FC levels?

The K-2005 I have was from the previous owner, and isn't very old (they had just put the pool in when they got relocated). Perhaps, the FAS/DPD kit is the way to go for me, to augment what I already have in the K-2005. Thanks for the suggestion.

That's what I was assuming. Thanks for confirming.

    New all around

I'm new to these forums, and new to pool maintenance (this is my first season). I've been in the Raleigh, NC area for a little over 2 years now, and we bought our new home (with a pool) in the Spring. It's an IG pool with a SWG, and my battle with algae/cloudy water brought me here. Excited...

    Measuring high FC levels?

In reading these forums, I see posts with test results that include FC values like 14.2, 17, 21, but my Taylor test kit comparator gauge is similar to this one (not my photo): It only goes up to 5, unless I'm reading it wrong. So, assuming I'm reading it correctly, how do people measure these...
