First time closing- chem levels-leaving open with no cover- Gunite- SW Pool- SW TN

Good Morning TFP! After a beautiful summer in our new to us pool (thanks to everyone here) alas it is now too cold to swim in my opinion  As evidenced below, we have a gunite pool and I don't plan to cover it for winter. Im doing daily cleanup for leaves and debris ( and would continue...

911- what did i just do!?!?!?!

230PM- FC tested at 24. Sunny day out. Had both pumps running all morning. Main pump was running all night. Here is the pool as it stands. Most bubbles have gone away. You can see what the waterfalls are creating but it dissipates. Not really sure how to capture and remove it. It isn't foam...

Going away for a week for the first time!

Good Morning TFP! Just made my first small donation. Thank you all very much for all you do for us newbs! So Im in west TN, and its been HOT, like index's of 105+, ambient temps of 95 for about the last three weeks. Pool has been doing amazing at self regulating, I've been testing weekly, life...

Looking for Advice/Opinions on what to do for automation of my setup (new to us pool)

While all good ideas and I can appreciate where they are going, I feel that this is too much for things that aren't broken at this time. I see what you mean about these systems only having four relay circuits. Im thinking main pump, fountain pump, polaris pump, and SWG. I don't feel the need to...

Looking for Advice/Opinions on what to do for automation of my setup (new to us pool)

So in response, I figured out that my two main pumps were 1 hp each and the polaris pump was 3/4 hp. Regardless, I think considering all my equipment is functioning correctly, that my money is most wisely spent on getting my pump times automated. Having said all that, what can I do along that...

Update: After two days of non stop running and only adding some muriatic acid, I got the following test results tonight. SWCG has been set to 50% the whole time. I turned it down to 30% tonight. Atmospheric Temps have been lower this week with no rain and in the 60-78 range. Water looks great...

Greeting from Collierville, TN- second house- first SW pool!

Interesting! Ok! Thanks for the link. For a second I was like dang is that algae??? But then I thought there's no way that could be that much algae floating around preying on my unavailability and the 9 FC water haha! Ok so if thats normal, and I've maintained a 9+ FC for 7 days ( 14+ for about...

Greeting from Collierville, TN- second house- first SW pool!

Ok so I just got home and ran a test. Pool was unattended from Friday night till now (Sunday 8PM). Water levels receded about two inches due to Polaris tail streaming water into landscaping (doh). Anyway, FC tested at 9PPM, CC tested at less than .5PPM. Water appears clear and ok from what I...

Greeting from Collierville, TN- second house- first SW pool!

Well thanks all! I appreciate the compliments! We like it too :D And sorry for the delay, had to make a last minute 8 hour drive to see my parents and new nephew! Two points of clarity: I would say the CYA is right at 30PPM. I probably should have avoided the less than statement. I do have...

Greeting from Collierville, TN- second house- first SW pool!

Question: What is wrong with using the "algae control" that they sold me? ( can't return it anyway) I don't believe it contains any metals per the MSDS. I brought up the calculator and it makes good sense however I get this when I plug in all my test results with only a desire to lower pH to...

Greeting from Collierville, TN- second house- first SW pool!

Ok test kit is on the way. Im gonna go get one more free test just to see what they say is going on with it this evening. I will hold off adding anything else. What should I use to get the pH down? Is there like a secret list of household ingredients people use???

Greeting from Collierville, TN- second house- first SW pool!

Like the rest of us schlubs, I'm new to the pool game. I have tried to do my research. Ill keep it short and sweet: Problem- green algae spots formed sometime between Monday night and Tuesday evening on some horizontal flag stone surfaces ( mostly on shallow areas). Freaked out. Didn't want to...
