Polaris always goes to the same area

I have a Polaris 200, it goes to one end of the pool and never the other direction. I have rebuilt it and it works better, the backup valve seems to be working. Any ideas why it would behave like that? The booster pump may be part of the problem. It's making noises like there is a bad bearing in...

    High salt IC40

So I added enough salt to get me to 3740. The red light is saying salt is low. Is that the normal reaction from an IC 40? The salt will go down to 3600 i a week or two but will it make chlorine during the over-salted period? Bart

    Greenish stain in pool

Hello all, This summer a streak of greenish/brownish stain developed in a line along my pool from the shallow end to the deep end. I assume it's algae, but it is different than other algae I have experienced. A few times over the years I let the chlorine lapse and got green algae, it has always...

    Pentair valve leak, suggestions?

I have a 2 way port valve with motorized control that leaks at the valve cap. I installed a new o-ring and put an extra goopy amount of o-ring lube on it, but it still weeps. Tried varying the pattern in which the screws are installed, didnt work Is it possible to put too much o-ring lube? Any...

Is there any way to test the output of an IC40?

I have a sneaking suspicion that my new IC40 (replacing a failed IC20) isn't producing much chlorine. Pool store cannot test it. Is there any kind of way to test and see if it produces the as advertised amount of chlorine??

    Timer trips breaker

Any ideas to get me started diagnosing are welcome. Every time my intermatic timer reaches the "on" tripper, the pump circuit breaker trips. However, if I manually switch the pump to on, it runs fine with no circuit breaker issues. What the heck could be causing that?

Loose bonding wire and circuit breaker

I have recently had trouble with the circuit breaker tripping on my pumps. I note that the bonding wire connecting them has lost a connection so it's not connected securely and uninterrupted. Can these two problems be related? Obviously I can easily secure the bonding wire but I don't want to...

    Fafco solar panel leak advice

I appear to have sprung a leak in a Fafco panel where the tubes meet the header. Normally there are pinhole leaks in the tubes but this appears to be at the point where the tubes connect to the header. I have searched the forums and the google but cannot find this exact fact pattern. Does anyone...

Ever dealt with error code "FL 0"?

I have a jandy lite 2 natural gas heater that throws out FL 0 as an error code. I have the troubleshooting section of the manual and that code is supposed to alert you when the pump is not running or there is low pressure. Neither is the case and all of the test points check out ok. So I wonder...

Help with sealing this pump connection

I have tried several times to get a leak proof connection between the threaded joint on the pump and the suction side piping. I am using teflon tape, threaded the thing all the way and still got drips. Should i be using something other than teflon tape? Any tips...

Solid red PWR light on Intellichlor IC20

According to the manual, this means you need service. According to Pentair, this means the unit's failure is imminent, but it's been that way for six months and it's still making chlorine. Has anyone else had the same experience? Or has anyone else ever cured the solid red power light?

Good place to buy cartridge filters

Looking to replace the cartridges in a Pentair Clean & Clear Plus 420 and I don't really want to spend a $100 per cartridge. Does anyone have a recommendation for getting a decent filter at a good price? I live in Northern California, but I am guessing on-line is where the better pricing will...

    Help understanding these wires

Hi All, This is a pic of a Heliomatic solar controller and I could use a little help understanding the wiring. I think the "out" wires go to the solar pump, I think the "red" and "black" 240v wires are from the breaker panel and I have no idea what the "slave in" wires are doing. Would be most...

    In ground spa question

Our recently purchased house has an in ground pool and spa. The spa operates when the suction and return are diverted to it, obviously, but I wonder if its okay to partially open the return in order to decrease the power of the jets while using the spa? Is it hard on the pump?

I thik I am being taken advantage of..

Pool guy diagnoses my ever running solar pump as being caused by a bad Heliomatic solar controller (sensors are fine). He wants $200 in labor to hook up a new controller but I swear it just looks like some simple wiring to screw terminals on a replacement controller. Am I missing something? Is...

Am I just stupid? Can't figure out how to operate the valve

I just moved into a new house and didnt really get much instruction on operating the pool equipment. It appears that I need to turn a valve to divert the water from the pool loop to the inground spa loop. But try as I might, I can't get the valve(s) to turn. They are Pentair valves similar to...
