    Water level for skimmer

Considering that the wide mouth skimmer on my pool is approx 6 inches tall, is there suggested standard water level other than enough to supply the pump, and not too high to allow for skimming action? I usually keep my water level at the second screw on the skimmer, which allowed approx 3...

    Sand filter laterals

Grrrrrrrrr, It appears I need to replace the laterals in my Hayward sand filter. The pool was installed August 2016 and then closed Nov 2016. I read the manual, read the forums, and looked to see what my neighbors did with their sand filters. Everything pointed to leaving it outside over the...

Well I have come to the collective oracle for some feedback. My pool was installed and filled yesterday. (Filled with municipal water via 3,000 gallon water trucks) Last night at dusk, I added about a half gallon of 12.5% liquid chlorine and a pound of CYA in a sock in front of the return...

    Pool math chlorine question

When I enter 8% chlorine into the FC table the calculator it reads "Weight", however when I enter 12.5% the word changes to "Trade". Just wondering what the difference is and why that difference is noted? Rolo

Where do you buy your CYA?

I've been pouring over the forum and pool school since we decided to put our pool in. I've got a pretty good handle on the BBB method, but have a quick question regarding CYA. Where are you buying it from? I see Wally has Chlorox Pool and and Spa stabilizer. 4 lbs for approx $13. Is that what...
