Replacing 3 Pentair Globrites this weekend. What should I watch out for?

I'm replacing 3 out of 4 Globrites this weekend. Ideally I would have someone do this, but I can save a lot of money doing it myself, and it seems easy enough to DIY based on what I've seen online. Question for anyone who's done this themselves, were there any unanticipated issues you ran into...

    Intellichlor Warranty

Does the Intellichlor chlorinator need to be installed by a licensed Pentair vendor for the warranty to be honored? A year or so ago I'd looked to have our IC40 replaced or repaired under the warranty. When I started the process on the Pentair website, one of the mandatory questions was who...

Best place to buy Pentair IC40

Is there a TFP preferred online retailer to use when buying a replacement SWG? Prices seem to vary from site to site. Also, I’d read that these units are more expensive these days than maybe a year or two ago. How much did these cost back then?

Pentair Intellichlor heavily calcified/obstructed. Is it salvageable?

I have a Pentair Intellichlor that is just caked with calcium and salt deposits between the fins. It has never produced chlorine effectively since we bought the house at the end of May. The pool is three years old, and I wouldn’t be surprised if this thing has never been cleaned in that entire...

Need help navigating new pool and its equipment

We just purchased a new house, and I am now the owner of a pool that is way out of my depth, and I need some help figuring it all out. I don’t know a ton of details about the pool. It’s less than 3 years old, ~15,000 gal, and of an unknown finish. It’s a saltwater pool with a Pentair...

A&A Magnasweep - replacement of gears on Water Valve assembly

Does anyone have experience replacing just the gears on the water valve assembly? The teeth on the underside of a couple gears have worn off and the unit no longer rotates. I'd rather just spend the $40 on new gears rather than the $100 on a new unit if possible.

Best way to maintain CH while on vacation?

We will be out of town for 5 days with nobody able to tend to the pool. I'm trying to bring my CYA up slowly after a refill so it's on the low end (~25-30) of ideal, and the pool gets direct sunlight for the majority of the day, so I'm having a heck of a time keeping enough chlorine in the...

    A&A QuikSkim Weir Door replacement

Quick question -- I need a replacement weir door for a QuikSkim unit. I can get one directly from A&A for ~$28 including tax and shipping, but if I can find one cheaper on Amazon or possibly at a local pool supply store, that'd be ideal. Do these units take a proprietary door, though? I've...

Can I convert A&A in-floor cleaning system + Quikskim to a traditional vac port for robot?

I have an A&A in-floor cleaning system with a Quikskim installed, but I'm seriously considering moving away from that and getting a robot instead. Only problem is we don't have a vacuum port in the pool wall, and there is no way I can see to fish a hose into the Quickskim for suction. From...

CYA and FC levels in new pool water

I drained and refilled the pool this past weekend. Our CYA levels were sky high and maintaining the pool over the past year was a nightmare, so it needed to be done. Wanted to do it earlier in the year, but just couldn't get around to it until now. Anyway, we are drained and refilled with new...

Hayward EcoStar SP4300VSP Tripping Breaker at Panel

A quick search shows that people seem to be having a lot of problems with this particular piece of equipment, even within a couple years of install (me included). The control module on my pump went bad. I was getting random errors here and there that always seemed to sort themselves out, but...

Pool is crystal clear, but sky high FC (22) and CYA (off the charts), and zero CC

I have no idea what to do here. Pool looks great - better than it has in years. But the water feels terrible and is doing a real number on swimmers skin, eyes, etc. In a perfect world I'd drain right now and start over, but I'm in Phoenix and draining doesn't seem like a great idea (sunlight...

Refilling pool tomorrow and need some advice re: chemicals/additives

Our pool became more swamp and less pool this fall, so I went ahead and drained it today. Tomorrow first thing I'll start to refill it. I've seen half a dozen recommendations on what chemicals to add and when to add them when refilling the pool. It's overwhelming. Am I SLAMing the thing...

Hayward EcoStar Var Speed Error Message - Key Error 68

I've got the Hayward EcoStar SP3400VSP pump, and at some point this week the thing turned on by itself and started running in Quick Clean. When I heard it running this afternoon, I went out to turn it off but none of the buttons were working, so I killed power at the switch (not breaker in...

Not getting flow to all in-floor cleaning heads - A&A Magnasweep

First of all, I'm pretty green when it comes to pools and their operation/maintenance, so please bear with me I'll be sure to add any additional info as requested. I'm just not sure what all I should put here right out of the gate. We bought our house in Feb '15, the pool (approx 10k gal) was...
