Grandkids arrived early OK to swim?

I have been slamming for about 2 1/2 weeks and have finally gotten to clear water. My grandkids arrived 2 days early and want to use the pool. My numbers for today are as follows: FC 9.5 CC 2.0 TC 11.5 CYA 40 PH 7.5 TA 40 CH 400 At what levels of FC and CC would it be okay for them to swim...

    Another SLAM question

Unfortunately when I first started to treat the pool earlier this month I was using CLC classic by Bioguard, that accounts for the increase in CH. I couldn't find unexpired bleach, so I used the pool store stuff....that won't happen again. The granules are easier for an old guy (no lugging of...

    Another SLAM question

Another year and something else always happens. This year my pump died and I ended up with my 3rd swamp in 10 years. After installing the new pump, I started my SLAM on July 3rd, I finally have clear water, but my CC is not where it should be, it's at 2.5. I checked all my prior years, and it...

Cleaned filters left standing in sunlight for months

I have left my cleaned filters standing in sunlight for a few months. Is it necessary to soak them in anything? Could any algae still be alive in the filter? The filters are basically all white again and I wanted to change out the ones currently in use. In the past I have soaked in dish...

    Tri Chlor or Bleach

I currently have a SWG that is showing error code 170. I am also in the process of completing a SLAM. While I am waiting to fix or repair my SWG, I was wondering which chlorination method I should use, bleach or tri chlor? I am not sure when I will get around to repairing the SWG and I have both...

    Augmenting SWG

My SWG quit working (error code 170) and I still have to run a few more tests to see exactly where the problem might be. In the interim and possibly until next spring, would it be okay to float tri-chlor tablets in lieu of bleach? If I need to replace one of the boards or the entire control...

    Augmenting SWG

Thunderstorms for the last 2 days have not allowed me to get in all the CYA. I have added about 6 lbs and will try to get the rest in tomorrow. I imagine that my reading should improve tomorrow morning. I will base other additives on readings tomorrow. I am really starting to hate this rain.

    Augmenting SWG

yesterday at about 6 pm I added 1 gal of 10% chlorine and raised my SWG to 100%....I had added about 1 sock full (about a pound of CYA) a few days ago, tied in the skimmer ... Augmenting SWG

I will be out of town for a few weeks and need to know if its ok to use the chlorine disks in addition to my SWG. My SWG is not producing chlorine fast enough as I wait to slowly raise my CYA. I don't want to come back to a green pool if I cant add bleach manually. Let me know what you think...

    Algae or brown encrusted dirt?

I have attached a picture of my thermometer that has an encrusted brown coating. It is not slimey. I was wondering if this is dried out algae or just dirt of some sort. It was like this when I took it out of the water before I started my slam. Thanks Charlie

    Pb4-60

I just replaced my booster pump, a PB4-60. Is there any way to check the actual pressure that is produced? My Polaris does not seem to be moving as quickly as it used to. I removed the Polaris from the end of the hose and noted that the water flow seemed to imitate the same flow as coming out a...

    Pump control

I have an Intermatic Multi purpose control mode # P1353ME that is part of my system. When I was starting to winterize my system, I noticed that I got no readings from my SWG and that the power light was out. I turned off the power and restarted, but no effect. I checked the wires from the above...

Just put in my dummy SWG

I just took out my SWG for cleaning and winterizing, since last year I had a bad experience and had to replace the SWG. My question is, since it is very difficult to remove the sensor and the power cord from the control box, would it be alright to connect both up to the dummy SWG? I plan to run...

Ready to start the fight again

 Just a progress report..... It took 18 days (6/4 to 6/22) and 126 jugs of 8.25% bleach to turn my green swamp (I had frogs and ducks) into a crystal clear pool. I ran the filter 24/7, changed out the cartridges after the first week and brushed the entire pool about 4-5 times per day...

    Aqupure 1400 disconnect

I purchased a replacement for my Aquapure SWG....My problem is that I can't get the plug end from the old sensor out of the circuit board. I have pulled and tugged, but it doesn't budge....I am afraid to use any tools for fear of messing up the circuit board. Has anyone else had this problem...

    Polaris 280 problem

My Polaris 280 no longer moved properly in the water. I took it apart and found that the right front wheel had its teeth worn down.
