Mama trying to save the pool

Don't get discouraged or afraid of the testing. I am a complete chemistry dummy (no lie) and you just do one test at a time--each test is super easy to do--and record the results. The only test that is a little iffy is the CYA test, because it is kind of subjective, but there is plenty of help...

Plaster & fill next week: help me plan my steps please

See if your builder will label all the valve handles for you. You will need to know which ones to shut off/on for different procedures and keep detailed notes of the steps for maintenance procedures (cleaning the pump filter basket, backwashing, draining to waste, etc). Also ask the builder to...

New pool owner - first test results

Make sure you are doing your salt test correctly. I was having readings that were double what my SWG said and finally figured out that I was using 25ml water instead of 10ml water to test. :hammer:

New pool owner. Was crystal clear, now green-ish

The first step in maintaining your pool is buying a good test kit. TFP recommends the TFTkits TF100 or Taylor K-2006C. You cannot rely on the pool $tore to keep your pool clear! They will sell you stuff that makes you chase a clear pool, so you have to keep returning to them for more $tuff. Once...

Oh my god, the spiders. How do you keep them at bay?

I love my spiders and rescue them when I can out of the skimmers. These skimmer basket replacement handles have been SO GREAT, because I don't like sticking my hands down into a messy basket without knowing what is dead/lurking in there lol.

question about the economics of converting to SWG

I had an older (10 yr) Jandy Aquapure that I had a lot of trouble with, so I quit using it and started using LC for 2 years. At the end of last season I decided to replace the Jandy and get another SWG and quit the LC. The stress of "will the store have chlorine today? How many places will I...

Plan for taking over a new pool?

Buy your test kit now. It really is essential in maintaining a sparkling pool. I couldn't handle 3 weeks of chemistry in school, but i can test my water and know what exactly my water needs. It's such a relief to *really know* what you are adding and why!

    Pool chemist

I know it can seem overwhelming, but once you get over your fear of failure (lol) it's super easy. I lasted 3 weeks in my HS chemistry class, but can test my water in about 5 min now. The test kits recommended and the methods described on this site will make things SO EASY and you won't be...

    Unbalanced Water

Buy the TF-100 and it will save you tons of money, I promise. It might seem expensive, but being able to manage your pool with cheaper chemicals ( pool chlorine, MA, stabilizer) will pay off in the long run. I PROMISE this is the way to go. Plus, you will get the help you need from all the fine...

I enjoyed reading this whole forum this morning. Y'all are some experts, that's for sure! Have a question for anyone who has a Weber gas grill (I also have a huge charcoal grill, but the Weber gets the most use these days for just the 2 of us). I need a new 3 burner tube set up and see...

    Lessons not easily learned..

    New pool owner, kinda overwhelmed

Walmart has liquid chlorine available in the FW area (I bought 8 galllons yesterday to prepare for the rolling blackouts ) Look for it in the garden section (ours is inside the store where the garden chemicals are). This will give you the best bang for your buck, since the chlorine is at a...

    Jandy 1400 Power Transformer Burned...And?

How big is your pool? I have about a 37k gallon pool and the installers had to put 2 Jandy cells in for my pool (twice the expense to repair/replace). My one Circupool RJ60 is holding chlorine at 8-9ppm running 25-30%. It was a game changer for me.

I just replaced my horrible (nothing but trouble and $$) Jandy Aquapure 1400 (10 years old) with a Circupool RJ60+ and can't believe the difference in ease of use and chlorine production. For the first time in 7 years I feel confident in my chlorine levels. My 2 cents--get rid of the Jandy...

Need advice re: replacing older Jandy SWCG

Circupool recommends to shield the controller from the elements to make it last longer. Mine is exposed to the southeast, but has a roof with a gutter system directly overhead, so it gets some protection. I paid my pool repair guy to install it, and purchased from discountsaltpool.

Went with the RJ-60+ and skipped the automation. Have had it working for about 5 weeks now, and it really pumps out the CL! I run it at 20-25% and I still have over 8ppm CL consistently. Just need to figure out a way to build a shelter for the unit (wish there was an option to purchase one on...
