Need Help With Which Pentair Pump to Get [Issues]

2" I in fact considering the Pentair distributors can't get the pump for me - I was going to just order a cheaper SuperFlo VS online and do the install myself

Need Help With Which Pentair Pump to Get [Issues]

I was looking into a 011056 - but all installers want $1,800..to install it. Not something I have. Brick and mortar is selling for $1439.00 before taxes with $100 rebate apparently. Warranty is kind of important for me - and so Pentair requires professional install to get 2-3 years. 1...

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

Availability: Out of Stock And gone just when I see your message. Apparently Pentair requires installers to buy direct from their wholesaler network not online it seems

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

Thank you! Currently - I found a pentair authorized dealer who also does installs that I decided to go with from their site. To be honest I was hungering to do it all myself...BUT - He said people charging $300-$500 for install is "overpriced" and he'd do it for only $150. So the pump (1400 +...

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

Genius! thank you. It makes complete sense ! :). Would flipping the breaker to off on that panel be enough or do I have to also shut it off at the house main?

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

Following is my timer - not sure if the SWG and Pump can be connected to these.....I seem to understand the flow switch shouldn't be depended on - but wouldn't it be okay to depend on the VS pumps inbuilt timer (giving it constant power) - and then using the existing pump timer for the SWCG...

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

Thanks - I'm still a bit unsure why the SWG would need to be linked to the timer -as it will only kick in when the pump is on and flowing apparently? Or did I mistake something. My installer seems super honest and knowledgeable but perhaps something was lost in translation. On my setup - he...

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

The SWG to the pump timer bit confuses me - coudl you elaborate? I was told the timer wouldn't be necessary with a VSP and will effectively be phased out - since the SWG only operates once the water flows through it - did I miss something?

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

CYA is like 45. I have the K-2006C Taylor kit :) And I'm just honestly tired of liquid chlorine tbh. I went ahead with the SWG ichlor 30 and the Pentair pump to compliment it. The pump was definitely necessary for me because chlorinating was nice and all but because I couldn't run the pump...

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

Hi - by pad you mean the whole shebang including pump etc? I would say above the pool (in-ground). Also no the pool has no special features.

Going from Single Speed to Variable PENTAIR after 10 years (question)

So I've been on a Single Speed Jandy...and balancing the pool has been okay for the most part, but I had to not run the pump as much due to electric usage being crazy for the amount most people wanted to run it. I only run 4 hours a day....and before anyone says it : yes, algae has always been...

How long to wait until adjusting pH to add chlorine?

I had to get my pH down by adding 1+ gallon of muriatic acid into the pool according to my Taylor Acid Demand test (13 drops, pool is 14,500 Gallons)....I did it in increments, with half a gallon added tonight at the deepest end of the pool with the pump running and half a gallon yesterday. I...

    What FC to maintain?

I don't doubt it could be algae or something abrewing lol. Get a lot of wind and dirt and stuff from pine trees in the pool. my question still remains about how often one needs to chlorinate or maintain that minimum.

    What FC to maintain?

Hi All I have a 14,600 gallon pool. I was wondering what is the advised FC level? I tend to chlorinate a little pencil sized stream by the return every day - and I usually use more than half a jug of 128 Oz 10% NaOCl to reach a FC of '4'. Sometimes my FC goes quickly to 0 due to the sun and...

Is there a pool vacuum that's amazing?

I used to have the crappy Zodiac one which would always get stuck in a corner just sucking away the same spot usually or just didn't work that great despite psi suction being 50. Anyone know of a good pool vacuum? Are those thousand dollar electric ones really good?

    SLAM Q

Also just wanted to ask - the pH doesn't seem to change after 30 minutes at all, despite me adding the required amount of Baume 31 Muriatic (14 Oz). Does it take 24 hours to reflect? I assumed after 30 minutes, if tested, it would reflect proper values for the pH (pump was running). Also is it...

    SLAM Q

Hi Wire, Thanks. I only leave it open when no one is really swimming. But I imagine it's dangerous in the sense that any leaves etc can go through that narrow port and "clog" it up. Which I just realized suprisingly. I can 100% make most of the suction to the skimmer and turn that port...

    SLAM Q

That's exactly what I'm mentioning. a Vacuum port. I don't use a cleaner. I use a pool hose that I connect to it and then attach it to my pool brush for manual cleaning. When the hose isn't connected, the most suction is from that vacuum port. Thats is what I've been referring to for...

    SLAM Q

I will change it. I just brush so often - I keep the suction at the main drain....I figured circulation wise..there wouldn't be a huge impact...? Both go to the pool pump...does it matter?
  27. JackHarkness

    SLAM Q

My pool is set so the majority of the suction is this hole in the middle of the pool against the left side of the pool. The skimmer isn't the main suction (has enough tiny suction to get leaves in the basket) I've been pouring the chlorine in the "IN"/Suction side - not the return. Oh god x_x lol
  28. JackHarkness

    SLAM Q

I didn't realize in 30 minutes it would be throughout the pool water, because in my mind its a stream of chlorine - goes into the return - which goes to the pump...then comes out of a hole in my pool near the stairs. Thought it would take time for it to disperse.. When you say return you mean...

    SLAM Q

Hi Marty, Thanks for all your help. 1) So the thing I heard a long time ago about adding chlorine after sunset isn't really that true? I always avoided adding chlorine in the day. 2) When I usually add chlorine at night, that's when I run the pump (not during the day). But assuming I did it...

    SLAM Q

Sincere thanks to everyone here. Question follow up: If I put a pencil size stream of chlorine into the pool - do I duck down, do I try to put it from higher up so it "dives" deeper? The return I have (pool legit only has 1) is a little deep (4" into the pool). Also how long must one run a...
