Pool and Spa Thermometer with wireless Temperature Sensor

I suppose these thermometers would work well with heated pools. Otherwise, Unless it is capable of measuring temps well below the surface of the water, it is basically useless. Everyone should know that the surface temps will be higher than deeper water. The actual pool temp will be several...

pantyhose are AMAZING and I'm a guy

The way the plumbing is run on our pool, we NEED to use skimmer socks! I don't know if the previous owner used them. It sure does make a difference keeping small stuff that can get past the skimmer and pump baskets from re-entering the pool resulting in a cleaner, clearer pool!

    When pump/motor goes out?

Most pumps fail because of seal failure and water entering the motor. As stated above, if you are a do it yourselfer, the repair is straight forward. I have purchased seal and gasket/o-ring kits to be prepared for the seal leaking. The repair can be done in a few hours. You can buy a pump...

Cracked Hayward C5025 Swimclear cartridge filter

If I were in your shoes, and was happy with the performance of the filter, I would look into buying a replacement part for the filter housing. I am thinking it is the base of the housing. If so, it can be found for about 3 bills. If you decide to get a different filter, then you must figure...

Pool and Spa Thermometer with wireless Temperature Sensor

Does this measure only surface temps? Or can it take readings deeper?

    Skimmer socks

We NEED to use skimmer socks. The skimmer flows to the in floor cleaner system and not the filter. So, if there was no sock, small debris would bypass the skimmer basket, pump basket, and back to the pool via the in floor nozzles.

    Filter Cartridge Cleaning

When we purchased our new to us home with a pool, we replaced the filter cartridges and cleaned the housing prior to opening the pool. We did not want to run into problems left by the previous owner since we did not know how they cared for the pool. We also know when the cartridges were replaced.

removing water, SWG water and grass/plants

We run a hose to a sewer cleanout. Keeps the water out of the yard and flushes the pipe(s). Not adviseable if you have a septic system.

    Need to rebuild pump. Advice?

Looking at a picture, it appears the pump/front half is one piece. and the inlet and outlet are part of it. IF you can remove the clamp and the motor from the mounting base and leave the pump, you should be ok. However, if you have unions in the plumbing to disconnect the pump, I would...

    Hayward Ultra/Navigator etc.

My previous pool had a navigator that I repaired a few times. Never had a problem with the gearbox. Usually the bearings on either side of the tubine wheel would fail causing little or no movement across the pool. Along with the other wear items. Have not seen a 'gator with a one piece...

Looking for cap for umbrella stand

Have a beach entry with an umbrella stand. Looking for the cap that covers the "hole". My search efforts have been futile so far. Any help would be appreciated! I will keep searching. Thanks!

Pentair Whisperflow seal replacement How-to (w/ photos)

I recall that the WhisperFlo pumps have two seal options. Is determining which seal is required an easy task? I needed to replace the plate seal on our pump but did not have a new diffuser o-ring. The old o-ring fit loosely on the diffuser. How does the new o-ring fit? Seems to be working...

    The Circulator

Paramount has a similar product that is an accessory for their in floor cleaner systems. It replaces the return eyball(s) with a special pop-up nozzle that only moves 90 degrees. Designed to clean the pool walls. Pretty much does the same thing as the circulator, and probably better built...

How can I spruce up my pool light

We have LED lights with the multi-color show option. We have a pebble-tec finish that is a brownish color. I wish we had the "regular energy eating, boring white flood type". The finish does not reflect the light well, so the pool has a filtered light look and the colors seem very weak. I am...

what should my filter pressure be?

Read your gauge after the filter(s) have been cleaned, pump and skimmer baskets cleaned, with system running under normal circumstances. This reading will be "normal" for your pool when everything is clean. As the pressure increases, filter(s) are becoming dirty. Usually a 10 psi increase...

    Rinsing Cartridge Filter?

If we ever use a pool service, (not very likely) I would certainly test the water to make sure the service is doing it's job. It is very possible to have a pool look good and have the chemistry way off. JMHO

    Rinsing Cartridge Filter?

From what I read, it seems that you have one filter cartridge that has 200sf of filter area for a 25-30K gallon pool. If this is true, sounds like you are under filtered. Our 20K gallon pool has 4 200sf cartridges. May be time to upgrade.

    Air in System

A stuck closed or broken skimmer weir can cause similar symptoms. Debris can wedge the weir closed that the pump suction can't dislodge. Broken weir pivots allow the weir to stay open. Same results. JMHO by experience.

    Pool Refillilng

It looks to me like the valve can be dis-assembled. The valve may be able to be repaired. Some hardware stores carry the seals/washers for valves. May be worth looking into. Then again, that paticular valve may look like it comes apart, but actually does not.

    Love skimmer socks.

We NEED to use skimmer socks! The water flows from the skimmer, pump, pcc2000 valve, to pcc2000 floor jets. If we didn't use the socks, any dirt/debris that would pass the skimmer and pump baskets would either end up back in the pool or cause problems with the pcc2000 system!

    pop ups

We have a Paramount pcc2000 system with several cleaning jets. Assuming you have checked the system's operation and are sure the jets are bad, then the low buck alternative for cleaning the pool would be to get a suction side cleaner. IF your skimmer flows to the filter, then an adapter can...

Re: How to clean a cartridge filter I know its against the "rules" of cartridge cleaning, but, for years I have used a pressure washer without any damage to the elements. JMHO.

Thoughts on buying a pump on ebay

We purchased a Hayward Northstar pump from an Ebay seller. It was from a seller that had an Ebay store that sold only pool equipment and had excellent feedback. No problems at all.

    pool light gasket problems

The pool at our old residence had a leak in the light fixture as well. After checking and rechecking all the usual suspects, the leak was where the wire enters the housing. Allowed the fixture to dry, Cleaned the area and applied silicone sealer around the area. All is good. Just another area...

    Aqua Logic clock is fast

We have an Aqua Logic AQL-P-4 Control. The clock is fast. Now 15 mins from reset from DST. Yeah, I know, 15 mins in 4 mos. aint nuthin' to cry about. Just would like to know if this is normal or a potential problem. Thanks! (I have set the time with the remote control in the house.)

    Please vote! Thanks! (10 seconds!)

I have only had experience with cartridge. Our first pool was near a peach orchard and down wind to boot. The filter and cleaner did the job. Our new to us pool has a different plumbing and cleaning system. Still cartridge. We have less airborne dirt and wind direction is different. Keeping...
