If you are used to rigid PVC but never glued flex, also be aware it likes to "back out" of the fitting more than rigid, so hold it in the fitting longer to be sure it set.

Yep, the pump should use the "line" side and then the timer will work with the SWG on the "load" side. I'll leave it to an electrician on if you can use the terminals or need wire nuts, or whatever to do it properly. I think I'd use the wire nuts myself.

While you go in circles with them, do you have a DVM or access to one from a friend? Just check the resistance between the two pins on the flow switch cable with the pump off. 99% sure it will show a short. Pass that info on to the confused support line.
