Maybe I missed it but I understood it to just be a little cloudy at the 30 point which is the top end of the test. So for me I'd say somewhere between 0-30 and I dont recall him adding any cya. So yes I agree he doesn't want to go too.l far but it seems like it's way too low at this point.

First guess is too wire gauge is too small. You need 12ga or smaller. Guessing you have 14ga. Higher the number the smaller the diameter. When it's produced the number indicates how many times the wire was rolled through a die to its final diameter.

You must have organic matter in your water system to have what I think you mean to be combined chlorine of 2. You need stabilizer to protect the chlorine from dissipating in the sun. I'm suspecting you're not testing correctly though. What test kit are using?

No. That's a sealant. You want a non drying lubricant. Not sure what home Depot would have that's good to use.

Vacuuming sucks. Really it's a total pain in the *** to get started. The hose needs to be completely full of water and I don't use that plate that goes in the skimmer. My hose end fits right into the bottom of the skimmer and must remain tightly sealed and covered by water for best results.

Make sure the oring is in good shape and use an appropriate lubricant on it. I use Lube Tube $8.39 Amazon Prime. Enough for quite a while and is useful on many other items around the house. Lube your refrigerator seal and it will last a lot longer. Especially the hinge side.
