    controlling PH rise...

I know exactly what the noxious smell of Muriatic acid is and if I can avoid it by wearing the correct mask I will and would recommend it to others (once tasted never forgotten) I have to decant from a 20 litre drum to a more managable amount and then pour in as you suggest, but even then you...

High Salt in a Non SWCG pool

I used the Aquachek strips first and got a reading of 2500 but I also purchased a refractometer after which read 4000 I was concerned about how much salt was in after prolonged use of sodium hypochlorite and whether I should do a partial drain and refill

High Salt in a Non SWCG pool

I keep my pool open and heated all year and because it is covered with polycarbonate have no loss through sunlight and very little backwashing I don’t have a salt cell Thanks on clarifying that the higher CYA is only relevant to SWCG

High Salt in a Non SWCG pool

Hi all Because of constant use of sodium hypochlorite my salt level has risen to that of a SWCG pool Also my pool is covered with no UV burnoff my CYA is about 20 with no problems as recommended by Chem Geek Should I raise my CYA, or is the higher CYA only for a SWCG pool and not relative to...

    Purity stain removal tool

I use one for stain removal after some stains were left after an AA treatment and it works fine Using MA make sure you only use enough to reduce your pH to an acceptable level before raising it with aeration I also bought a 1/4" plastic valve to switch off the supply of acid when moving to a...

That's a shame as being in the UK we can't benefit from the perks I think a lot of people would be happy to upgrade to get some more funds for TFP

Looking for clarification about the electrical connections on my heat pump

I have a heat pump wired to the pump and a separate timer included with the heat pump The heat pump and pump runs when the timer calls but cuts out when the temperature reaches 1 degree C over the set temperature. The pump then runs intermittently (preset) during the timed period for cleaning...

    Vacuuming Problems

There is extra load on the pump when vacuuming and any suction side air leak is greatly exaggerated Are you filling the pipe with water before connecting it You can put the hose in front of a return to expel al the air

    Water heating idea

I would be inclined to make the pipe bigger to get more flow through and make sure it's black to absorb more heat also the thinner the pipe more heat transference If you still want to use the 1/2 pipe try running 3 or 4 pipes round at once connected to a larger pipe

Why would pool store tell me to add 2 cups of acid for 5 days?

Don't do it until you have correct levels from a decent test kit You could be lowering your pH to much Muriatic acid lowers TA and pH Raise your pH higher 7.8 by aeration then lower it to 7.0 with acid which lowers TA as well Then repeat till you get the desired level

Partially drained gunite pool, pop-up risk?

With a gunite pool you are less likely to have it pop out as it quiet heavy Do you have a main drain with a hydrostatic relief valve which would equalise the pressure My fibreglass pool lifted like a boat after a drain down causing lots of problems but I didn't have a main drain and relief...

High TA but pH holding steady

I wouldn't worry about the TA so long as your pH is stable I would definitely raise your chlorine level with a CYA of 70 to 8-10 as in chlorine cya chart

Take water out of pool and bypass the filter?

Whichever way you do it you are still taking water from the pool. Just go for it If you are vacuuming to waste that water doesn't go through the filter

Take water out of pool and bypass the filter?

When I run to waste no water passes through or over my sand. It's just like vacuuming to waste but you will be losing CYA from the pool water

Brownish stain covering most of pool walls and floor

Make sure your algecide is a polyquat I not sure what is available in the states but I use Lo-Chlor No More Metal. It is suggested that you have top up doses to hold the iron in suspension Ascorbic acid is what it says, acid, but quiet mild. The acid wash uses Muriatic acid and is a lot stronger...

Water balancing after new liner install

I would be inclined to get some chlorine and CYA in ASAP to prevent an algae bloom Let the water run over the CYA as you fill and just add chlorine as the water rises If you have a bottom drain and you can prime your pump you could just draw from there, alternatively you could use a sump pump to...

Brownish stain covering most of pool walls and floor

I have used the Ascorbic Acid Treatment with reasonable success I have also used Purity Pool Underwater Acid Wash Kit, which uses muriatic acid. I did purchase a 1/4" plastic valve so that I could control the flow of acid You will also need to add a sequestrant after use to hold the iron in...
