I'm happy with a cheap one. I wouldn't get a pillow, just let the cover sit on top of the water and use jugs of water to hold it down until it rains or snows.

We leave our Intex Ultra up all year, this will be the 4th winter and have noticed no problems. It freezes solid, just drain below the returns.

Wish I would of saw this post a few weeks ago, I would have recommended making a water level. For about $5 you can make a level thats as 100% perfectly accurate.

In the future I would let the cover rest directly on the water surface, you'll never have to worry about what's on the cover.

Getting rid of the pillow might add a little more slack in the liner.

Mine too. I swapped the front wheels to the back, it seemed to help a little but I think the thing is just getting old and wore out. I'll be getting a new one next spring.

DE, or a filter bag from Duda Diesel, they work amazingly well.

Throw away the Intex filters and get a Unicel, you won't be disappointed.

Where are you located? If you have to worry about freezing I think it would be a pain to winterize that main drain.

I've never noticed anything dumping back into the pool. The debris is caught in the space between the screen and the flipper door. I suppose if its lifted straight up and out some stuff might get past the flipper door on the bottom? I always pull it out of the water with one jet opening...

I was able to fix the problem of the swivel wheels not turning. I switched the swivel wheels with the stationary wheels, more importantly, I switched the gray plastic piece that holds the wheels. That plastic was definitely getting wore out. It works perfect now.

I definitely agree with the robot being full of debris it has collected or a dirty filter with low pressure it doesn't move well. With mine, robot clean and the 1hp pump putting out a LOT of water those wheels just don't want to swivel like they used to. With thousands of hours on it I think...

Mine hit mid 60s and I thought I could be lazy and not check it for a while, I usually close when its 50 or lower. 2 weeks later and it went green, personally I would wait till its cooler.

I didn't notice your pool size. With a 600 gallon pool and a 530 gph pump (although in reality its probably less than that) you are getting plenty of water filtering, probably better than most here. With the Unicel filter getting the fine particle size the Intex lets flow through your water...

The intex deluxe maintenance kit is has a decent vacuum. Better yet just get the Intex automatic pool cleaning robot, best purchase I've made for the pool.

Don't forget to check where the hose connects to the pump, the plastic mesh can clog quickly there.

How about an oversized winter cover. Let the cover sit on the water then up and over the pool sides. You can let the snow pile up all winter and not worry about it. I'll get a few feet of snow on the cover this way everything is just fine, no pull on the top rail or uprights.

If you can water it and compact it then put a tarp down or something to eliminate washout sand can be a good base. Put pavers under the legs to distribute the load for sure though.
