    Pool renovation questions

That’s too bad, we had a pool inspection when we bought the house and the expansion joint was always not great looking. They didn’t mention it at all. I’ll take some pictures of the expansion joint later.

    Pool renovation questions

Our tile has been rapidly falling off, and the coping stones have seen better days as well. We had a contractor give us an estimate to repair both, as well as redo our outdated mossy-stone waterfall. Few questions for the group: We have Oklahoma flagstone. It’s nice that it is nonslip, but it...

Replacement SWG cell for Circupool Edge 25

Just an update for anyone who runs across this. The previous cell had issues with leaking, as I mentioned. The coupler could not be tightened enough to make a good seal under pressure, and tightening past a certain point would pop it off the threads of the SWG and of course the pressure would...

Replacement SWG cell for Circupool Edge 25

Mine has had a lot of problems since we got it as well, I just don’t have the time to replumb so bit the bullet and got the replacement cell. The power supply showed up with a cracked case and it whines, like a bad transformer. It shuts off randomly. They wouldn’t guarantee they would replace...

Replacement SWG cell for Circupool Edge 25

We tried that, and tried hose clamps as well. Nothing stopped the leak completely. We got it to a slow drip and just had to leave it like that.

Replacement SWG cell for Circupool Edge 25

It’s probably a generic pamphlet for some OTS or pre-designed coupler/union that they used in the assembly. The pamphlet came with that weird slip-on union. If I had to guess, considering the issues we had with leaking, it is because the old unions were not designed or manufactured properly...

Replacement SWG cell for Circupool Edge 25

An aftermarket from the same company that made the original? The threads are very similar, if not the same. The original thread I mentioned had a few people comment about the same leaking issue I have, and the ID of the union or something was the issue. Clamping it down, or in one case making...

Replacement SWG cell for Circupool Edge 25

I ordered a replacement cell for the Edge 25 from Circupool. I got this note with it. Has anyone seen this? I’ve had a lot of leaking problems with the Edge 25, as documented on this site.

    C-600 from TFtestkits

Thanks, even if this gave me a rough idea, it seems worth it to be a more frequently used type of tester. I’ll let you know if I have problems with it.

    C-600 from TFtestkits

I ran across this C-600. Right now I use a pretty good pH meter but it’s precision overkill and a little unfriendly for my kids to use. I searched here for any threads on this model but didn’t find any. Has anyone used this? https://tftestkits.net/C-600-pH-Salt-Meter-p147.html

    Bypassing SWCG

Thanks for clarifying, I agree, it seems like a terminology difference.

    Bypassing SWCG

    Who said making two cuts?
  20. R

    Bypassing SWCG

Yes, I understand all that. It's still "cutting a section out" because the diameter is now reduced.

    Bypassing SWCG

“Cutting a section out” can be achieved by removing material in that way. So, what am I missing?
  22. R

    Bypassing SWCG

That seems like splitting hairs, unless I’m missing something?

    Bypassing SWCG

If you are pointing to the hose clamp fix, that only works for so long. I believe the OP also noted he ended up having to cut a section out of the coupler and reattach the hose clamp.

Is the Edge-25 a budget model?

    Bypassing SWCG

Switch to what? I would like to explore alternatives to Circupool considering they would not cover this leaking or all the issues I had with the controller under warranty.

    Thinking of converting to SWG

Stay away from the Circupool Edge-25 or anything with the same housing and thread design. It’s been a struggle trying to keep it from leaking at the couplers. The controller had many issues (and was cracked out-of-box) and the company wouldn’t replace it. I like the idea of a SWCG but this...

    Bypassing SWCG

I was under the impression that a different SWCG would not be the exact size, and would require replumbing. If you mean another Edge-25 cell - that’s not going to fix the leak problems (others here have the same issue). I’ll take a look at the bypass adapter, thanks.

    Bypassing SWCG

Our Circupool Edge-25 is now reading Check Cell and not putting out any chlorine. We descaled the plates today - no minerals remain from what we can tell (there really was not much in the first place). It’s incredibly hard to keep it from leaking. My wife wants to trash it. We spend far more...

Equipment PSA for the folks in warm climates

What do you mean by plenty of flow? We have struggled with leaks this year, both vacuum and pressure side, so we run the motor near full speed to keep it from sucking in too much air.

Equipment PSA for the folks in warm climates

I’m comfortable with winterizing my pool (I’ve done it with the help of this forum the past few years). It’s not predicted to ice like 2021, which is when it got hairy. 2022 and 2023 were probably not necessary for me to winterize. I didn’t lose power at all any year. Is the suggestion...
