Intex Pump Unit has power but does nothing?

Hi, welcome to TFP! Do you have it plugged into a GFCI outlet? Have you tried plugging it into a different outlet? You can use a heavy duty extension cord just for the sake of testing if there is not another plug nearby.

Just tested with TF-100, what to do now?

Hi, welcome to TFP! You can download a free version of the app to your phone or you can use the version of PoolMath from the website. Set up your pool, plug in your test numbers and the app will tell you how much of each chemical you need to add. As far as what should be tackled first...

There may be an issue, but the risk level seems dependent on multiple factors. This website may be the best resource to answer your question. https://galvanizeit.org/knowledgebase/article/galvanized-steel-with-aluminum-parts

    Reinforced but need opinions

I don't think its a huge concern to fix it now, when you will be dropping the water level to close the pool for the winter in a couple of months at most. I think you can wait until then to fix it, but I will ask a couple of others to give an opinion. @JamesW @Texas Splash

Please tell me if i screwed up

You can't sufficiently clean the tab feeder to prevent a chemical reaction. I would get a floating dispenser for the cal-hypo. Also cal-hypo tabs don't dissolve comepletely and leave some goop behind. It will be easier to keep a floater clean. You will also need to keep an eye on calcium and...

Please tell me if i screwed up

Just to clarify, you can use dichlor/trichlor and cal-hypo at the same time as long as they are in different dispensers. Once they are in the pool there is no problem using those chemicals at the same time. Never try to save space by storing them dry in the same container either.

Please tell me if i screwed up

Hi, welcome to TFP! How long ago did you put cal-hypo tabs in the chlorine feeder? If it has previously had trichlor tab in it there could be a chemical reaction that could start a fire or small explosion. The reaction would take place fairly quickly so if it has been several hours you are...

Beginner with high CYA looking for advice

Hi, welcome to TFP! I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but with very high CYA it is going to be difficult to keep the pool properly chlorinated. It sounds like you have done some water replacement. Ultimately that will be your solution. Almost nothing else removes CYA and it does not...

quick question about repairing a couple of small holes from rust

Horizontal wrinkles in the liner on the walls are caused by long term exposure to low pH. Before TFP I used to run 2 floaters with 4 pucks each trying to keep ahead of algae and I never tested my water. The pucks will lower the pH and I was loading up on them every week. I had tons of...

    Help Pool Water Hot!

The finer the mist the better cooling effect. Also the higher it shoots in the air the more it will cool. Even when it hasn't been running long enough to cool the water, standing under the arch of the water feels much cooler too.

    Hello, from Oklahoma.

Hi, welcome to TFP! Is it a rectangular pool and is it filling or is it already full of water? Some bowing is normal while the pool fills. If you can post some photos we can see if you need to change anything.

    Famous People

I've met famous and semi-famous people back when I was a record store manager in the 80s. Met Milli Vanilli before the world found out they didn't sing on their records. I worked an instore appearance with New Kids on the Block when they were big. They were kind of jerks. We had these large...

Rust on 3 Year Old Doughboy

My theory is the rust gets started due to condensation forming between the liner and the inner pool wall. I found out after my pool failed that there was significant surface rust on the inner wall, much more than I expected based on how the exterior looked. My liner never leaked. My...

quick question about repairing a couple of small holes from rust

I'm not sure I would trust an epoxy patch. I do not know how to do the calculations, but since you are a math teacher maybe you know. One of the properties of water is that it will always seek level. Round pools are structurally stronger because water pushes against the walls equally trying...

quick question about repairing a couple of small holes from rust

Is the wall weeping at that spot, or is there a thin stream shooting out? If it is just weeping then I doubt you have a liner leak. My theory is there is condensation that gets trapped between the liner and pool wall that causes the rust in areas where the factory rustproofing was inadequate...

Help....I don't know what problem to tackle first!

They haven't added CYA since they refilled the pool. An FC of 1.0 with 0 CYA is sufficient to kill algae. Once they start adding CYA they can bring their FC to the appropriate level according to poolmath.

Help....I don't know what problem to tackle first!

Ok, great! That makes this much easier! You have 0 CYA. It does not occur in nature so it wouldn't show up in well water and it is not used in drinking water so it wouldn't come out of your tap. Use the sock method and add enough CYA to reach 60ppm according to poolmath. Since your pool is...

Help....I don't know what problem to tackle first!

Hi, welcome to TFP! Don't give up testing yourself. You can do this! Looking at your pool math logs, you had CYA at 35 ppm 15 days ago. Was that a reading from your K2600? How much and what type of chlorine have you been adding? We need to determine if your low CYA reading is due to...

    Cloudy water but stumped

You would also want to check the iron levels of the well water if he decides to go for a full or partial drain and refill. Is getting trucked in iron free water a viable option in your area?

    Cloudy water but stumped

Ok. I would want to drain out the copper or at least get it below .03 A partial drain and refill of about half the water should do that if he does't want to do a full drain and refill. Does he have well water? If he has well water and replacing a large volume of water would be too much...

Pentair Dynamo 1.5HP pump - bad noise - repair/replacement options?

The pump has a wet end and a dry end. The dry end is the motor. Wet and dry end together are the pump. The wet end of the pump has all the connection points for the plumbing and no mechanical parts. As long as there is no damage to the wet end you can swap out the motor. There is a mechanical...

    Cloudy water but stumped

He can do the OCLT before raising the CYA. Has the water been tested for metals? Can you get a photo of the frog kit he has? If it is the kind that uses mineral packs there may be metals in the water that should be drained before treating the pool. I don't want to advise adding anything...

Pentair Dynamo 1.5HP pump - bad noise - repair/replacement options?

I've had several Dynamo pumps and they don't last but a few years. If you want the same foot print and connections then replacing just the motor will do that for you. If you want to go with a different brand then you will have to make some adjustments to the plumbing, but its not super...

    Sunshade and chlorine demand?

I predict your FC usage will go up, because you will be spending even more time in the water enjoying your pool! It looks beautiful! For real though it will have very little effect on FC use. It may help keep the water a touch cooler though.
