    Experimenting with preopen prep?

Yes, I think that's right. Similar when I closed it and a month later I still had good levels. Thanks all. I'm excited to get going.

    Experimenting with preopen prep?

Yes, understood. After my shift open, should I run my Stennar chlorine pump and main pump daily to keep chlorine level in my usual range? I guess logic says why not.

    Experimenting with preopen prep?

Hi all, getting things lined up for the summer. Would appreciate some thoughts on this idea. My opening date usually varies depending on life and travel. I was thinking maybe, leave cover on now, but pull plugs and run my equipment in circulate, and put in 12 percent chlorine until I'm ready to...

Educate me about chlorine level and loss

Hi, I'm trying to find the sweet spot for my liquid chlorine pump and considering sometimes I might be away for up to 2 weeks at a time. So this is what I'm trying to better understand (mainly using liquid chlorine 12.5%) 1. Is it bad if I overchlorinate the pool, aside from wasting money...

    Should I change pool companies?

I have the TFP kit, but will admit have not used it. Until last year was using ColorQ 7, but that thing is so flaky and annoying. Got the pool company this year bc I was away with my sick mom. Not at the pool for weeks on end. So the pool guy at least kept it good enough, but not like I have...

    Should I change pool companies?

For 5 years I've maintained my pool myself. Decent success, typical setbacks here and there, but generally ok. This year used a pool guy, mainly bc I was away taking care of my sick mom. I also didn't want to leave the pool shut, so got a pool company who my friend uses. So here's the...

Keeping sump pump in pool over winter

Hi, pools closed and it's cold out here in north NJ. so I've owned my pool 5 years,. for some reason, and I have no idea why, I have this fear of leaving my sump pump in the pool to automatically drain as needed. Is this nonsense? It's a simple Everbilt black pump. Will it stain my 3 year old...

Where on the forum should one post questions about stains?

thanks. I'll try the dry acid. Finally called my pool construction guy, asked him about it and sent photos. will see what he says. That stain eliminator product I believe is similar to Bioguard Erase. I bet it's just very expensive ascorbic acid. Unfortunately, it didn't remove these stains...

also, this was the metal erase treatment I used. this brand was suggested to me, and I believe it is a good quality brand, although I had never heard of it before this. I looked now and it does say copper stain remover. I'm stumped. https://www.poolgeek.com/products/durachlor-stain-eliminator

Where on the forum should one post questions about stains?

Hi Mark, I very rarely use the trichlor pucks. I prefer liquid chlorine and have one of those fancy 15 gallon drums with the adjustable rate pump. So this year I've just used about 6 pucks in all over the past 4 weeks (right at the beginning when I opened the pool). Previous years also avoided...

Where on the forum should one post questions about stains?

Hi Mark, I do not believe so, but I'm humbled by my previous misdiagnosis. I've used only algaecide 50 and 60. typically using Omni 60, but also use a cheaper 50 that my father in law gives me. I don't have those bottles anymore. Do you think I should try a copper remover? Also, I was not...

Where on the forum should one post questions about stains?

PS, lots of reflection in photos from the trees above. The stains are dull in appearance, the real patchy contrast on the photos is more lighting. Edges of the stain or soft and blurry as it fades to the adjacent non stained area. photos make it look more scaly, which this is not. thanks

Where on the forum should one post questions about stains?

Hi, I have some staining, but now I do not believe it is algae. where should I post this question and pictures? I already did a full Metal Erase treatment followed by stain and scale eliminator. Several stains around other areas of the pool came out, but these yellow/green stains remain. They do...

    Taylor k2006C refills question

Hi, I am planning to buy the kit. I'm wondering do the liquids expire basically every year or two? do most homeowners end up throwing out most of the bottle? I always hated wasting the stuff with my ColorQ tester. can you buy just the refills for the taylor and where?

Opened pool late ton of algae

Ill be back at the pool Sunday and will post pics. right now chlorine level is super high and I left it on recirculate for 12 hours a day. I didn't want to chance it on filter bc the DE filter was clogging. quickly. I probably backwashed it like 6x already. In hindsight, I wonder if SLAM it...
