Got my k-2006c today. Crud results...

You’ve discovered the difference between TFP methods and pool store methods. They cannot be mixed. The pool store will not fix this. They don’t know about the methods here, nor can they be convinced to follow them.

Got my k-2006c today. Crud results...

@shaneymack click on the drop down where it says “what will you use...” and choose Muriatic acid, 31.45% 20 Baume. That’ll give you the correct dose. Then make sure that is the concentration of acid that you buy.

Got my k-2006c today. Crud results...

How much stabilizer did you add? I see you weren’t using pool math, so I’m curious what you were targeting and how you arrived at the amount needed to reach your target?

Got my k-2006c today. Crud results...

Use pool math to calculate your dosing amounts. I will tell you that it never hurts to keep a few gallons of Muriatic acid on hand. So far this season, I’ve used 4 gallons. I buy them 4 at a time from my local home improvement box store. Just don’t store them around any metal. I store mine...

How does your water look? The CH is really high. Could there possibly be a testing error on that one? Have you used cal hypo at all? Have you tested your fill water? I believe vinyl pools do ok with high CH, but I’ll summon @mknauss and @Richard320 for that. Assuming the CH is something we...

    My first slam

At first, you should test as often as you can. I've seen some people test every hour in the beginning. Some can only test the minimum recommended amount (3X/day). If you are heavy on reagents, I would test every hour or two, it will keep your additions smaller and you'll stay on top of it...

    Hazy water after heavy rains

Heavy rains typically do not have a huge impact on pool chemistry. We recently got about 9" of rain in a night here in Nebraska. I had a similar situation where the water looked slightly hazy. I ran my dolphin the next day and brought by FC up to SLAM just in case and went off to work. By...

    Help!

I’m very sorry to tell you this, but those test strips are absolutely worthless and we cannot give you good guidance based on their results. I would not recommend making chemistry decisions based on test strips. You need a test kit that can tell you the actual status of your water.

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

Let us know what happens with your OCLT, and a fresh CYA test.

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

I’d do another CYA test in full sun. Until then I would keep FC at SLAM and test at least every few hours. Heck, I’d consider this a full SLAM and just follow the procedure.

    Sudden excessive chlorine loss!!!

If you are confident in the CYA reading, I would keep it at SLAM level until you can pass an OCLT. Something is eating the chlorine up. Maybe start testing and dosing every few hours for a bit just to be sure. Otherwise, verify your CYA test to be sure you’re actually at a SLAM level.

Blue pool water on backwash, liner?

I see a robot in the water, does it have any hint of blue when you clean the filter in it? Since it is scrubbing the liner, I would expect it to pick up something if it is the liner.

    Advice required (lots to cover)

May I suggest some light reading while you are waiting for your kit? https://www.troublefreepool.com/blog/2018/12/12/abcs-of-pool-water-chemistry/ https://www.troublefreepool.com/blog/2018/12/12/slam-shock-level-and-maintain/ You will likely be performing a SLAM once you get your kit, so that...

    Am I safe to swim?

Please. Stop. Blindly. Throwing. Chemicals. In. Your. Pool. Take a breath. Read the ABC’s of water chemistry and Pool School and learn how to take control of your pool. Get a good test kit and start managing it with the love it deserves.

    Grey Mosaic Water Color?

I’ll leave the light issue to you to decide. Mine are not Multicolor, I know those are quite expensive. I was given the choice for the multicolor but I don't recall what the upcharge was going to be because I didn't really want them anyway. The site is blocking me from uploading the pictures I...

    Grey Mosaic Water Color?

Yes, I have 2 of the Pentair LED lights. My pool at its longest is 33 feet. My feedback would be to get at least 2 lights. A single light would probably not do a lot for you with a 40 foot length. I will get that picture you asked for today, work has been in the way so far this morning.

    Grey Mosaic Water Color?

We are very happy with the liner. I wouldn’t change anything with it at all. I’ll snap a pic in the light tomorrow.

    Grey Mosaic Water Color?

@Slopezn1789 I do not believe it is grey mosaic light. I am certain the liner we chose is Colbalt Lake/Grey Mosaic.

    Grey Mosaic Water Color?

I have that liner with a border. I’ve posted quite a few pics of mine if you want to look through my posts. There’s a build thread and a few other threads I’ve thrown some pics onto. If they don’t show you what you’re wanting to see, let me know and I’ll get you some others. Just to be sure...
