    New gas meter installation process

Hello, just wondering if anyone else knows what the process is like for the gas company to install a new meter. I'm getting a large pool heater and this is likely going to be part of the process. Do they typically need to dig underground? Is it longer than a day? Does the side of my house...

Installing new heater but unsure of gas pipe size

I'm hoping. HOPING this since the guy I talked to is just the sales guy and not in the field, he doesn't know what he's talking about. But the fact that 2 highly rated hvac guys (licensed) told me to tee off existing lines is super sketchy. There are tons of pool heaters in my area and I...

Installing new heater but unsure of gas pipe size

My gas guys and my pool guy say 3/4" is fine. My pool guy says "you can run 7 stoves from your meter without a problem." Yikes. So does the line have to come directly from the main? And why do these people say smaller is ok if it isn't ok? These guys are licensed and do this all the time...

Installing new heater but unsure of gas pipe size

Ok. From out of the ground, the outside diameter of the pipe is 1-3/4". That goes for maybe a foot and a half, then drops to 1-1/2" which connects to the meter itself

Installing new heater but unsure of gas pipe size

What do you mean by larger service? And there are no regulators at the meter.

Installing new heater but unsure of gas pipe size

I did some checking. I have shut off valves prior to my appliances. No regulators. I have a 10' run of 1" pipe from meter. Then it drops to 3/4 for 15 feet, tees off to dryer, then elbows for 60 feet to furnace (Rheen Classic 90, still digging for BTU rating). Then tees off another 10 feet...

Installing new heater but unsure of gas pipe size

How/where can I find my pressure need? Is it estimated? And how can I tell if there are regulators before my appliances already?

Installing new heater but unsure of gas pipe size

I'm looking at a Hayward 350k btu or 300k btu. On the brochure it says 3/4 inch pipe is what they take. Ive had conflicting suggestions from different HVAC people (licensed, good reviews). From our main, we get 1 inch. When we get to our basement (2007 home), it drops down to 3/4 inch to...

Pentair sand filter. Possible broken lateral

I have an sd80 sand filter. I've been experiencing intermittent sand in my pool over the past 5 years. The sand is original, never changed in the past 12 years. I'm in the process of vaccing it out and I'm wondering how I can remove the lateral mechanism to inspect it for cracks, fractures...

Re-grading lawn, need to save settling concrete slab

Aren't these junction boxes exposed to rain and snow build up anyway? That whole line of conduit is covered most of the winter in some amount of snow. With regards to the pad, it'll be at least a foot higher than the existing pad, so I'd imagine it'd be covered in dirt. All though I could be...

Re-grading lawn, need to save settling concrete slab

I don't want to touch anything with wires. The risk is too high. Idk what I'm doing. Whats the worst that can happen if I cover it with 1 or 2 inches of dirt?

Re-grading lawn, need to save settling concrete slab

Is it easy? Wouldn't that involve splicing? Edit: Is there any problem with just covering it with the soil? It sounds easier. I'm no electrician

Re-grading lawn, need to save settling concrete slab

I don't mean to raise or lower the conduit. If I leave the level of soil near my foundation, water from rains will run towards my foundation. I want it to run away, which means raising the soil level near my foundation. To do that, I will have to cover up the conduit. I didn't mean "bury" as...

Re-grading lawn, need to save settling concrete slab

To grade my lawn properly, that conduit would end up underground (see pics). And I don't think I'd need to access/change the electrical there the rest of the pool's life so I'm not sure why I'd want to splice it

Re-grading lawn, need to save settling concrete slab

If I do raise it, I'll have to bury that conduit which is something idk if I can do and extend the pvc. Is that even possible?

Re-grading lawn, need to save settling concrete slab

My pool's pump, filter and salt generator are all located on a concrete slab right next to the side of my house. When I installed it 12 years ago, I had no idea that the soil near the foundation would settle (its 13 years old). The lawn prior to the pool's installation wasn't built up at all...

Looking for the bottle to test for CYA for the Taylor test kit

Hi there. I lost the bottle that comes with the kit and thought I could buy a replacement. Only on their website there are a ton of battles (and a ton of caps) to choose from. Does anyone know which one I need?
